 රජය විසින් නියම කර ඇති සහතික මිලට වී මිලදී ගැනීමට එකඟ වී, සහනදායී ණය පහසුකම් ලබාගෙන එම පොරොන්දුව කඩ කරන පෞද්ගලික මෝල් හිමියන් අසාදු ලේඛනගත කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බව කෘෂිකර්ම, ඉඩම්, පශු සම්පත් සහ වාරිමාර්ග අමාත්‍ය ලාල් කාන්ත මහතා අවධාරණය කරයි.

අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේ ගොවි සංගම් සමග පැවති සාකච්චාවකදීය.

එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දුන්නේ වී අලෙවි මණ්ඩලයේ පවතින ගබඩා පහසුකම් සීමිත බැවින්, වී මිලදී ගැනීම සඳහා පෞද්ගලික අංශයට 'ඔඩපන ණය' ලබා දීමට රජය කටයුතු කර ඇති බවයි.

එලෙස රජයේ සහාය ලබාගන්නා මෝල් හිමියන් ගොවීන්ගෙන් වී මිලදී ගත යුත්තේ රජය ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කර ඇති සහතික මිලටම විය යුතු බවත්, ඇතැම් පිරිස් එම මිලට වඩා අඩුවෙන් වී මිලදී ගන්නා බවට තොරතුරු වාර්තා වන බවත් ඔහු පැවසීය. එවැනි අත්තනෝමතික ලෙස කටයුතු කරන ව්‍යාපාරිකයන්ට ඉදිරියේදී රජය සමඟ ගනුදෙනු කිරීමට ඇති අවස්ථාව අහිමි කරන බවට ඔහු අනතුරු ඇඟවීය.

රජයේ ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තිය වන්නේ ප්‍රථමයෙන්ම ගොවියාට හිමි සාධාරණ කොටස ලබා දීම බවත්, අතරමැදියන් තම ලාභය උපයා ගැනීමේදී ගොවියා හෝ පාරිභෝගිකයා සූරාකෑමට ඉඩ නොතබන බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

"ගොවියා රජෙක්" යැයි පැවසුවද ඔවුන් තවමත් දිළිඳු මට්ටමේ පසුවීම පිළිබඳව අමාත්‍යවරයා සිය කනගාටුව පළ කළ අතර, එම තත්ත්වය වෙනස් කිරීම රජයේ අරමුණ බව ද සඳහන් කළේය.

එමෙන්ම, වී වගාවට සාපේක්ෂව බඩ ඉරිඟු වගාවෙන් අක්කරයකට ලැබෙන ආදායම වැඩි බවත්, මේ වන විට බඩ ඉරිඟු මෙරට දෙවන ප්‍රධාන බෝගය බවට පත්ව ඇති බවත් අමාත්‍ය ලාල් කාන්ත මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය. ගොවීන්ගේ ආර්ථිකය ශක්තිමත් කිරීම සඳහා වෙළඳපොළ පාලනය කිරීමේ අභියෝගයට රජය සාර්ථකව මුහුණ දෙන බව ද ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

Minister Highlights Government's Commitment to Fair Rice Pricing Amidst Private Sector Concerns

In a strong message to the private sector, Minister of Agriculture, Lands, Animal Resources, and Irrigation, Lal Kantha, emphasized that actions will be taken against private mill owners who breach agreements made to purchase rice at the government-specified prices, which are subsidized by relief loans. This announcement came during a discussion with farmer associations.

During the dialogue, the Minister pointed out the limited storage facilities available within the Sri Lanka Rice Marketing Board, which prompted the government's decision to extend "overdraft loans" to the private sector for rice procurement.

Furthermore, he stressed that mill owners benefiting from government support must purchase rice from farmers at the official price announced by the government. Reports indicate that some entities are purchasing rice for less than this set price, a practice that the Minister warns could jeopardize future dealings with the government for such businesses.

Reiterating the government's economic policy, he affirmed that it prioritizes ensuring a fair share for farmers, while intermediaries should not exploit either the farmer or the consumer in pursuit of profit.

Despite the assertion that "the farmer is a king," the Minister expressed his disappointment that many farmers remain in poverty, underscoring that improving this condition is a key goal of the government.

He also highlighted the increasing income potential from cultivating green gram as compared to rice, noting that green gram has now emerged as the country’s second most important crop. The Minister further affirmed the government's efficacy in successfully addressing the challenges of market regulation to strengthen farmers' economic resilience.
