 රේගු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ සිදුවූ මහා පරිමාණ අක්‍රමිකතාවක් වසන් කිරීමට වත්මන් ජනාධිපති ලේකම්වරයා කටයුතු කර ඇති බවට පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ඩී.වී. චානක මහතා බරපතළ චෝදනාවක් එල්ල කරයි.

අද දෙරණ '360' වැඩසටහනට එක්වෙමින් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා මේ බව අනාවරණය කළේය.

ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ 2024 වසරේදී මෙරටට ආනයනය කරන ලද වාහන අමතර කොටස් සහිත බහාලුමක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙම ගැටලුව පැන නැගී ඇති බවයි.

අදාළ බහාලුම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ආනයන බලපත්‍ර නොතිබීම හේතුවෙන් එය රේගුවේ Red Channel යටතේ පරීක්ෂාවට ලක් කර තිබේ.

එහිදී පළමු කණ්ඩායම විසින් බහාලුමේ කිසිදු දෝෂයක් නොමැති බවට වාර්තා කර තිබුණද, එවකට රේගු නියෝජ්‍ය අධ්‍යක්ෂවරයෙකු ලෙස කටයුතු කළ වත්මන් ජනාධිපති ලේකම්වරයාගේ නායකත්වයෙන් යුත් දෙවන කණ්ඩායමක් විසින් එය යළි පරීක්ෂා කර ඇත.

එම පරීක්ෂාවේදී අනීතික ලෙස ගෙන්වන ලද වාහන ආසන 7ක් පමණක් හමුවූ බව පවසමින් ඒවා රාජසන්තක කිරීමට නිර්දේශ කර ඇති බව මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, රේගු අභ්‍යන්තර විමර්ශන අංශය විසින් සිදුකළ තෙවන පරීක්ෂාවකදී අනාවරණය වී ඇත්තේ එම බහාලුම තුළ රේගුවට ප්‍රකාශ නොකළ භාණ්ඩ වර්ග 45කට අයත් අයිතම 600කට අධික ප්‍රමාණයක් තිබී ඇති බවයි. ඒ අතර වාහන ආසන 130ක් සහ රිම් සහිත ටයර් විශාල ප්‍රමාණයක් තිබූ බවද ඩී.වී. චානක මහතා මෙහිදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

මෙම බරපතළ අක්‍රමිකතාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් වූ වාර්තා මේ වන විට රේගු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙන් සහ මුදල් අමාත්‍යාංශයෙන් අතුරුදන් වී ඇති බවත්, තමන් සතුව එම සියලු ලේඛනවල පිටපත් පවතින බවත් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.

මෙම සිදුවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් එළඹෙන බදාදා දිනයේදී අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට හෝ අල්ලස් හෝ දූෂණ විමර්ශන කොමිෂන් සභාවට පැමිණිලි කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බවද ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

වත්මන් රජය නීතිය සැමට සමානව ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බව පැවසුවද, ජනාධිපති ලේකම්වරයා වැනි ඉහළ නිලධාරීන් සම්බන්ධ මෙවැනි සිදුවීම්වලදී නිහඬ පිළිවෙතක් අනුගමනය කිරීම ගැටලුසහගත බවද මන්ත්‍රීවරයා මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

Allegations of Major Corruption in Customs Department by MP D.V. Chanaka

In a dramatic disclosure, Member of Parliament D.V. Chanaka has leveled serious accusations against the current presidential secretary, claiming his involvement in a significant irregularity within the Customs Department. This assertion came to light during the '360' program aired on Derana today.

Chanaka highlighted that issues have arisen concerning a shipment of imported vehicle spare parts scheduled for 2024. The lack of the necessary import licenses resulted in the shipment undergoing scrutiny under the Customs' Red Channel.

Despite an initial inspection by a team that reported no discrepancies, a subsequent review led by the then Deputy Director of Customs—who currently serves as the presidential secretary—uncovered a different narrative. This second team asserted that only seven illegally imported vehicle seats were identified and recommended their assessment for taxation.

However, a third inspection conducted by the Customs internal investigations unit revealed a far more alarming situation. It surfaced that the shipment contained over 600 items belonging to 45 different categories that had not been declared to Customs. Among these were 130 vehicle seats and a substantial number of rims and tires, as disclosed by Chanaka.

The MP emphasized that reports pertaining to this serious corruption have now mysteriously vanished from both the Customs Department and the Ministry of Finance. He affirmed that he possesses copies of all relevant documents related to the case.

Looking ahead, Chanaka expressed his intention to file complaints with either the Criminal Investigations Department or the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption next Wednesday regarding these troubling events.

While the current government claims to uphold the law impartially, the MP pointed out that the silent treatment applied to such incidents involving high-ranking officials, like the presidential secretary, raises serious concerns.
