 ජාත්‍යන්තර මූල්‍ය අරමුදලේ අරමුදල් පහසුකම් වැඩසටහනේ 7 වැනි සමාලෝචනයට පූර්‌වගාමීව සිදු කෙරුණු තාක්ෂණික කමිටු සාකච්ඡා වටය අලලා ඇතැම් මාධ්‍ය වැරදි අර්ථ නිරූපණයක් කර ඇති බව මුදල් හා ක්‍රමසම්පාදන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය අනිල් ජයන්ත මහතා අවධාරණය කරයි.

නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ අදාළ අරමුදල් පහසුකම් වැඩසටහන යටතේ 7 වැනි වාරිකය මුදා හැරීමට අදාළ සමාලෝචනයට පෙර සිදු කෙරුණු තාක්ෂණික කමිටු රැස්වීම 7 වැනි වාරිකය නිදහස් කිරීමේ අවසන් සාකච්ඡා වටය ලෙස ඇතැම් මාධ්‍ය පුවත් වාර්තා පලකර ඇති බවයි. 

එය මෙම විස්තීර්ණ ණය පහසුකම් වැඩසටහනේ පිළිගත් හා නිශ්චිත තාක්ෂණික ක්‍රියාවලිය පිළිබඳ අනවබෝධයකින් හෝ වැරදි අවබෝධයක් ජනතාව තුළ ඇති කර රජය අපහසුතාවයට පත් කිරීමට දැරූ වෑයමක් බව අමාත්‍යවරයා පවසයි.

අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් කියා සිටින්නේ, අභ්‍යන්තර හා බාහිර කරුණු කාරණා මත රට වැටී තිබූ ආර්ථික අවපාතයෙන් ආර්ථිකය මුදා ගෙන ගත වූ දෙවසර තුළ දේශීය වශයෙන් ආදායම් රැස්කර ගැනීමටත් අත්‍යවශ්‍ය ආනයන සඳහා අවශ්‍ය විදේශ සංචිත රැස්කර ගැනීමටත් රජය සමත් වූ බවයි. 

එහි ප්‍රතිලාභ ජනතාවට ලැබෙමින් පවතින අවස්ථාවක එය වඩාත් ප්‍රසාරණය වීම වළක්වාලීමට ජනතාව නොමග යවන සුළු පුවත්පත් වාර්තා වග කීමකින් තොරව ප්‍රචාරය කිරීම රටට සිදු කරන හානියක් බව නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කර සිටියේය.

Minister Anil Jayathissa Addresses Misrepresentation of IMF Fund Facility Discussions

During a recent statement, Minister of State for Finance and Audit, Dr. Anil Jayathissa, emphasized that certain media outlets have misinterpreted the preliminary discussions surrounding the seventh review of the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) fund facility program.

He highlighted that the meetings of the technical committee, held prior to the review for the release of the seventh tranche, have been misrepresented in the media as the final discussions for the tranche release. This, according to him, creates a misleading perception regarding the established and defined technical processes involved in the extensive loan facility program.

The minister pointed out that these misinterpretations could lead to public confusion and attempt to undermine the government, particularly as the nation strives to recover from a significant economic downturn over the last two years. He stated that the government has successfully mobilized domestic revenue and secured foreign reserves necessary for essential imports during this challenging period.

Jayathissa further stressed the importance of accurate reporting, noting that sensationalist news could mislead the public at a time when the benefits of the ongoing economic recovery are becoming evident. He called for a responsible approach in media reporting to prevent causing harm to the country.

The recent technical discussions related to the seventh tranche of the extended fund facility program took place in Colombo from October 10 to 23, involving representatives from the IMF, the Ministry of Finance, and officials from the Central Bank.
