His office issued a formal statement urging the public to exercise caution regarding these deceptive audiovisuals that promote various investment schemes.
These distorted videos, circulating across the internet and multiple social media platforms, attempt to fabricate a narrative implying that Perera endorses specific investment proposals. The statement from his office clarified that he has no association with any such media platforms promoting these videos.
This situation is portrayed as a calculated scheme aimed at financially duping the public, reflecting significant malevolence, as highlighted in the official communication. Perera’s office emphasized the serious implications of these fraudulent efforts.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious content to the relevant social media platforms. Additionally, anyone encountering such deceptive material is encouraged to promptly file complaints with the Computer Emergency Response Team of Sri Lanka and the enforcing authorities.
