ඔහු මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කලේ පුත්තලම දිස්ත්‍රිකයේ ආණමඩුව ආසනයේ පැවති කොට්ඨාස රැස්වීමක් අමතමිනි.

අසීමිත බද්දක් ගහලා, ව්‍යාපාර වට්ටලා, ව්‍යාපාරිකයාගේ ආදායම නැති කරලා, පිට රටවලින් ලංකාවේ නිෂ්පාදනය වන දේවල් පවා අසීමිත විදිහට පිටරටින් ගෙනල්ලා ලංකාවේ ව්‍යාපාරිකයාගේ ආදායම වට්ටලා දාලා, අවසානයේ නඩුත් දාලා, හිරෙත් දාලා, ව්‍යාපාර වසන තැනට මේ ආණ්ඩුව පරිවර්තනය කරලා තියෙන්නේ.

එවැනි අපේ රටට නොගැලපෙන, මේ රටේ පුරවැසියාට නොගැලපෙන ආර්ථික ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් ආණ්ඩුව අනුගමනය කරනවා. හැබැයි දැන් මොකද කියන්නේ? ජනාධිපතිවරයා හා ආණ්ඩුව කියනවා අපේ මුදල් අමාත්‍යාංශයේ අපේ ගිණුමේ කෝටි ගණන් තියෙනවාලු.

අසීමිත බදු ගහලා ආණ්ඩුව ගන්න බදු මුදල්වලින් ජනතාවට සාධාරණයක් කරන්නේ නැහැ. ඒවා ආණ්ඩුව ගිණුම්වල තියාගෙන ඉන්නවා කියලා පහුගියදා ඇවිල්ලා කියනවා හැකර් කෙනෙක් පැනලා ඒක අරගෙන ගිහිල්ලාලු.

දැන් මිනිස්සු බදු ගෙවන්න ඕනේ. ඒ බද්දෙන් ගමේ පාර, පන්සල, පල්ලිය, කෝවිල, ගෙවල් ටික හැදෙන්නේ නැහැ. ඒ බද්දෙන් ගමේ ඉස්පිරිතාලෙට බෙහෙත් ටික ලැබෙන්නේ නැහැ. ඒ තමන් ගෙවන බදු මුදලින් ගමේ ඉස්කෝලේ වැසිකිළිය, කැසිකිළිය, වහල හැදෙන්නේ නැහැ. ඉස්පිරිතාලේ බෙහෙත් ටික කාර්ය මණ්ඩලය ලබා දෙන්නේ නැහැ. හැබැයි ඉතිහාසයේ වැඩිම ආදායම ලබපු ආණ්ඩුව කියන ආණ්ඩුව ඉතිහාසයේ වැඩියෙන්ම ආදායම් ලබපු කාලසීමාව කියන ආණ්ඩුව, ඒ ආදායම තමන්ගේ ගිණුමට දාලා, ඒ ගිණුමෙන් නොදන්නා පුද්ගලයෙක් හොරාට අරගෙන යනවා. අවසානයේ බදු ගෙවපු මනුස්සයට සාධාරණයක් වෙන්නෙත් නැහැ, රටේ පුරවැසියට සාධාරණයක් වෙන්නෙත් නැහැ.

Concerns Raised Over Unfair Taxation of Local Businesses

Namal Rajapaksa, the National Organizer of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna and Member of Parliament, has voiced strong concerns regarding the government's treatment of local businesses. Speaking at a divisional meeting in Anamaduwa, within the Puttalam district, he criticized the numerous arrests and harassment faced by local entrepreneurs, questioning how many have been taken into custody under various allegations.

Rajapaksa highlighted the dire situation of small and medium-sized enterprises, which he claims are increasingly vulnerable due to rising electricity rates and uncontrollable oil prices. He stressed that these factors, coupled with excessive taxation, have made it nearly impossible for local businesses to sustain their operations.

The government’s approach, he argued, appears to disproportionately target local vendors while bypassing the urgent needs of small business owners. He contended that the excessive tax burden imposed on these entrepreneurs is pushing them to the brink of collapse.

Rajapaksa described the unfair nature of the government’s tax policies, suggesting that they lead to the suppression of incomes for local business owners while opening the market to foreign imports without equitable competition. “These policies have transformed the landscape of local commerce, driving businesses into the ground while allowing foreign products to flood the market,” he stated.

He further lamented the lack of accountability in how the government manages tax revenues, accusing it of failing to appropriately distribute these funds to benefit local communities. Instead, he asserted that the government continues to hoard revenue, without delivering on essential services that directly impact citizens’ lives, such as infrastructure and healthcare.

Rajapaksa urged for a fair tax policy that genuinely considers the challenges faced by local businesses and emphasized that if the tax policies were just, business owners would not hesitate to comply with their tax obligations. He criticized the current economic policy for being out of touch with the realities faced by the citizens of Sri Lanka.

The former Minister pointed to a failure in coordination between the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank, suggesting a lack of clarity in financial management and accountability. “It is imperative that the government resolve internal discrepancies regarding financial controls and ensure that the burden of payment does not fall solely on the local populace,” he noted.

Rajapaksa concluded by questioning the legal ramifications for those involved in the government's fiscal mismanagement and called for immediate action to reassure the local business community. As demands for clarity and corrective measures grow, the fate of local businesses hangs in the balance amid increasing financial pressures.
