පසුගිය මාස කිහිපය පුරා රුසියානු හමුදා දියත් කළ දැවැන්ත මෙහෙයුම් හමුවේ යුක්රේන යුද්ධය තීරණාත්මක මෙන්ම අවසාන අදියරකට එළඹෙමින් පවතින බව විදෙස් වාර්තා පෙන්වා දෙයි. රුසියානු හමුදා මේ වන විට කළු මුහුදේ පූර්ණ බලය තහවුරු කරගෙන ඇති අතර, ගොඩබිම් මෙහෙයුම් හරහා සුමි , කාර්කිව් සහ ඩිනිප්‍රොපෙට්‍රොව්ස්ක් යන ප්‍රදේශවලට වේගයෙන් ඇතුළු වෙමින් සිටියි.

රුසියාව මේ වන විට හුදෙක් හමුදා කඳවුරු පමණක් නොව, යුක්රේන හමුදාවලට සහය වන සිවිල් යටිතල පහසුකම් ද ඉලක්ක කර ප්‍රහාර එල්ල කරමින් සිටියි. ඇමරිකානු සිවිල් යුද්ධයේ අවසාන කාලසීමාවේදී අනුගමනය කළ උපක්‍රමවලට සමාන මෙම ක්‍රියාවලිය හරහා යුක්රේනයේ විදුලි බලාගාර සහ ඉන්ධන පිරවුම්හල් විනාශ කරමින් පවතී. හමුදා උපකරණ හෝ සෙබළුන් රැඳී සිටින සිවිල් ප්‍රදේශ වෙත ද ගුවන් ප්‍රහාර එල්ල කිරීමට රුසියාව පසුබට නොවන බව වාර්තා වේ.

අඛණ්ඩව එල්ල වන ප්‍රහාර හේතුවෙන් යුක්රේනයේ විදුලි පද්ධතිය ඉතිහාසයේ දරුණුතම බිඳවැටීමට ලක්ව ඇත. එළඹෙන දැඩි ශීත ඍතුවේදී උණුසුම් කිරීමේ පද්ධති සහ විදුලිය නොමැතිව මිලියන සංඛ්‍යාත යුක්රේන වැසියන් දැඩි අසීරුතාවයකට මුහුණ දෙනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

යුද පෙරමුණේ සිදුවන මෙම පසුබෑම හමුවේ යුක්රේන රජය තුළ දැඩි කලබලකාරී ස්වභාවයක් හටගෙන තිබේ. එහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස යුක්රේන ආරක්ෂක අමාත්‍යවරයා, හමුදාපතිවරයා සහ යුද හමුදා මාණ්ඩලික ප්‍රධානියා යන තිදෙනාම එකවර ධුරවලින් ඉවත් කිරීමට ජනාධිපති සෙලෙන්ස්කි පියවර ගෙන ඇත. යුද්ධයක තීරණාත්මක අවස්ථාවක මෙලෙස ඉහළම හමුදා නායකත්වය වෙනස් කිරීම කියෙව් පාලනයේ පවතින අස්ථාවරත්වය විදහා දක්වන බව දේශපාලන විචාරකයෝ පවසති.

යුක්රේනය සතු මිසයිල නාශක පද්ධති මේ වන විට සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම පාහේ අවසන් වී ඇති අතර, බටහිර රටවලින් ලැබෙන 'පේට්‍රියට්' වැනි නවීන ආරක්ෂක පද්ධති ලැබීමට ගතවන කාලය තුළ රුසියාව සිය ඉලක්ක සපුරා ගනු ඇතැයි විශ්වාස කෙරේ.

රුසියාව පවසන්නේ තමන් කිසිදු තාවකාලික සටන් විරාමයකට එකඟ නොවන බවත්, ස්ථිර සාමයක් සඳහා යුක්රේනය තුළ පවතින සියලුම විදේශීය හමුදා කඳවුරු සහ බටහිර අවි ආයුධ ඉවත් කිරීම, රුසියාව විසින් ඈඳාගත් ප්‍රදේශ නිල වශයෙන් රුසියාවට අයත් බව පිළිගැනීම කොන්දේසි සපුරාලිය යුතු බවත්ය.

මෙම කොන්දේසිවලට එකඟ නොවන්නේ නම්, රුසියානු හමුදා තවදුරටත් ඉදිරියට ගොස් ඉතිරි ප්‍රදේශ ද අත්පත් කරගනු ඇති බවට මොස්කව් පාලනය අනතුරු අඟවයි.

Escalating Tensions: Russia Intensifies Operations Amid Ukraine Conflict

Reports from international sources indicate that the war in Ukraine is entering what could be its most decisive and final phase, as Russian military operations ramp up significantly in recent months. The Russian forces have asserted complete control over the Black Sea, launching ground operations that advance rapidly into regions including Sumy, Kharkiv, and Dnipropertrovsk.

Notably, Russia's attacks are now extending beyond military installations to target civil infrastructure that supports Ukrainian forces. Drawing parallels to strategies employed during the final stages of the American Civil War, Russian assaults have been devastating Ukraine’s electrical facilities and fuel depots. Reports suggest that Russia shows no restraint in conducting airstrikes against civilian areas, irrespective of whether military equipment or personnel are present.

The relentless bombardment has plunged Ukraine’s electrical system into one of the most severe breakdowns in its history. As the harsh winter approaches, millions of Ukrainians face the prospect of severe hardship with dysfunctional heating systems and power outages.

This escalation on the front lines has exacerbated a climate of uncertainty within the Ukrainian government. In response to the mounting pressures, President Zelensky has taken the unprecedented step of dismissing three top military leaders simultaneously, including the Defence Minister, Chief of Army Staff, and the Commander-in-Chief. Political analysts suggest that such a drastic change in high command signals the instability gripping the current administration amidst a pivotal moment in the war.

Ukraine's missile defense systems are reported to be running critically low, raising concerns that Russia may achieve its objectives before new modern defense systems, like the 'Patriot' systems from Western nations, can be acquired.

Russia has indicated that it will not agree to any temporary ceasefire, demanding the removal of all foreign military bases and Western weaponry from Ukraine as a prerequisite for any stable peace agreement. Furthermore, Moscow insists on the formal annexation of territories it occupies as a condition for negotiations.

Failing to comply with these conditions, the Kremlin warns that the Russian military will continue its advance and secure control over remaining areas.
