ලෝක වෙළෙඳපොළේ වත්මන් මිල ගණන්වලට අනුව, බ්රෙන්ට් (Brent) බොරතෙල් බැරලයක මිල ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් 85. දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති අතර, WTI බොරතෙල් බැරලයක මිල ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් 80ක් ලෙස සටහන් වේ.
මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වන ආර්ථික විශ්ලේෂක ධනනාත් ප්රනාන්දු මහතා සඳහන් කරන්නේ, මැදපෙරදිග අර්බුදය හේතුවෙන් මීට පෙර ද මෙරට ආර්ථිකයට දැඩි බලපෑම් එල්ල වූ බවයි.
එම තත්ත්වය නැවත ඇති වීමේ අවදානමක් පවතින බැවින්, එය ජනප්රිය නොවන තීරණයක් වුවද ලෝක වෙළෙඳපොළ මිල ගණන්වලට සාපේක්ෂව මෙරට ඉන්ධන මිල ගැලපීම වඩාත් උචිත බව ඔහු අවධාරණය කරයි.
ලෝක වෙළෙඳපොළේ බොරතෙල් මිල මෙලෙස අඛණ්ඩව ඉහළ යාම ඉදිරියේදී මෙරට ආර්ථික ස්ථාවරත්වයට තවදුරටත් අභියෝගාත්මක විය හැකි බව ද වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දෙති.

The escalating military tensions in the Middle East have caused a significant surge in global oil prices, raising alarms about the potential adverse effects on Sri Lanka's economy.
To mitigate such impacts, economic analysts emphasize the urgent need for the country to adjust local fuel prices in line with international market trends.
Currently, Brent crude oil prices have risen to around $85 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude is reported at $80 per barrel.
Economic expert Dhananath Pranand disclosed that previous bouts of unrest in the region have already imposed severe challenges on the nation’s economy.
He cautioned that the risk of a repeat situation remains, and despite potential unpopularity, aligning local fuel prices with global rates is essential for economic stability.
The continuous rise in oil prices on the world market poses ongoing challenges for Sri Lanka's economic stability, suggesting a need for proactive measures to safeguard against future repercussions.
