වාහන මිල ගැන ලොකු තීන්දුවක්.. වාහන වෙලදපල හෙල්ලෙයි..

 රජය විසින් පනවා ඇති අතිරේක බදු ප්‍රතිශතය ලබන අගෝස්තු 15 වැනිදා ඉවත් කිරීමට තීරණය කළහොත්, මෙරට වෙළෙඳපොළේ වාහන මිල ගණන් පහළ යා හැකි බව ලංකා මෝටර් රථ අලෙවිකරුවන්ගේ සංගමය (Ceylon Automobile Association) පවසයි.

එම සංගමයේ සභාපති ප්‍රසාද් මානගේ මහතා සඳහන් කරන්නේ, රජය අගෝස්තු 15 වැනිදායින් පසු එම බදු ප්‍රතිශතය එලෙසම පවත්වාගෙන ගියහොත් වාහන මිලෙහි වෙනසක් සිදු නොවන බවයි.

වසර පහකට පසු පසුගිය පෙබරවාරි මාසයේදී වාහන ආනයන සීමා ලිහිල් කිරීමත් සමඟ වෙළෙඳපොළ තුළ විශාල ඉල්ලුමක් නිර්මාණය වූ නමුත්, මේ වන විට එම ඉල්ලුම සාමාන්‍ය මට්ටමකට පත්ව ඇති බව ද ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

වර්තමාන වාහන ආනයන දත්ත පසුගිය වසරේ දත්ත සමඟ සැසඳීම සාධාරණ නොවන බවත්, නිවැරදි සැසඳීමක් සඳහා වාහන ආනයනය සාමාන්‍ය පරිදි සිදු වූ 2019 වසරේ දත්ත උපයෝගී කරගත යුතු බවත් සභාපතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය. රේගු වාර්තාවලට අනුව, මීට පෙර දිනකට වාහන නිදහස් කර ගැනීම සඳහා ඉදිරිපත් වූ රේගු ප්‍රකාශන (Customs Declarations) සංඛ්‍යාව 800-850ත් අතර පැවති අතර, මේ වන විට එය 300-350 දක්වා කැපී පෙනෙන ලෙස පහළ ගොස් ඇත.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහ බැංකු දත්තවලට අනුව, මෙම වසරේ මුල් මාස පහ තුළ ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 1070ක වටිනාකමකින් යුත් වාහන මෙරටට ආනයනය කර තිබේ. අප්‍රේල් සහ මැයි මාසවලදී පැනවූ බදු සංශෝධන හේතුවෙන් වාහන ආනයන පිරිවැය 20%කින් පමණ ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බව ද වාර්තා වේ.

රජය අපේක්ෂා කරන්නේ මෙම මාසය තුළ ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 180ක පමණ වාහන ප්‍රමාණයක් මෙරටට ආනයනය කරනු ඇති බවයි. 2019 වසරේදී මෙරටට ආනයනය කරන ලද මුළු වාහනවල වටිනාකම ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් මිලියන 1400කි.

Government's Tax Removal Could Lower Vehicle Prices, Say Dealers

The Ceylon Automobile Association has suggested that if the government decides to abolish the additional tax percentage on August 15, vehicle prices in the local market could decline. This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about the impact of taxation on the automobile industry.

Prasad Manage, the Association's president, emphasized that maintaining the tax after the specified date would result in no changes to vehicle prices. He argued that the decision will significantly influence affordability for consumers.

Following the relaxation of vehicle import restrictions in February, the market witnessed a surge in demand. However, Manage pointed out that this demand has now returned to normal levels, indicating a stabilizing market trend.

He further noted that comparing current vehicle import data with last year's figures is misleading. Instead, he urged for a comparison with the more representative data from 2019, when vehicle imports were conducted under normal circumstances. According to customs reports, the daily number of customs declarations submitted for vehicle clearance has decreased significantly from 800-850 to a mere 300-350 recently.

Data from the Central Bank reveals that Sri Lanka imported vehicles worth approximately $1.07 billion in the first five months of this year. Reports indicate that the tax adjustments implemented in April and May have led to a 20% increase in the cost of vehicle imports.

The government anticipates that the vehicle import volume this month could reach around $180 million. In comparison, the total value of all vehicles imported in 2019 amounted to approximately $1.4 billion, showcasing the fluctuations in the market over the years.
