 නීත්‍යනුකූල නොවන ආකාරයට සිදු කර ඇති මහා පරිමාණ වාහන ජාවාරමක් සම්බන්ධයෙන් සිදු කරන විමර්ශනයකට අදාළව හිටපු ජනාධිපති මහින්ද රාජපක්‍ෂ මහතාගේ දෙවැනි පුත්‍රයා වන යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගෙන් අපරාධ පරීක්‍ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව (12දා) පැය 3 කට ආසන්න කාලයක් තිස්සේ ප්‍රශ්න කර ප්‍රකාශ ලබාගෙන ඇත.

මෙම ජාවාරමට සම්බන්ධ ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ සැකකරුවකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ප්‍රශ්න කිරීමේදී හෙළි වූ තොරතුරු මත යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂගෙන් මෙසේ ප්‍රශ්න කර ප්‍රකාශ ලබාගෙන තිබේ.

ඉකුත් 2020/21 වර්ෂවලදී මෙම වාහන ජාවාරම සිදුවී ඇති අතර ඊට යෝෂිත රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට චෝදනා එල්ල වී තිබෙන බව පොලිස් ආරංචි මාර්ග පවසයි.

රුපියල් කෝටි 10 කට අධික වටිනාකමෙන් යුත් ලෙක්සස් වර්ගයේ අධිසුඛෝපභෝගී මෝටර් රථයක් රේගු බදු නොගෙවා වාහන ආනයනය තහනම් කර තිබියදී නීත්‍යනුකූල නොවන ආකාරයට ආනයනය කර ඇති බව විමර්ශනවලින් හෙළිවී තිබේ.

මෙම වාහනයට අමතරව තවත් රුපියල් කෝටි ගණනක් වටිනා වාහන රැසක් හොර පාරවල් ඔස්සේ ආනයනය කර ඇති බවට ලැබී ඇති තොරතුරු මත ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද විමර්ශන ආරම්භ කර තිබේ.

මෙම වාහන නීත්‍යනුකූල නොවන මාර්ගවලින් ආනයනය කිරීම නිසා රුපියල් කෝටි ගණනක බදු මුදල් රජයට අහිමිවී ඇති බවද විමර්ශන නිලධාරීහු පවසති.

මෙම ජාවාරමට සම්බනධ තවත් ප්‍රබලයන් කිහිපදෙනකුගෙන්ම ඉදිරියේදී ප්‍රශ්න කිරීමට නියමිතය. අපරාධ පරීක්‍ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විමර්ශන පවත්වාගෙන යයි.

Yoshitha Rajapaksa Interrogated Over Alleged Vehicle Smuggling Scheme

Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the second son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, was questioned for nearly three hours by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on December 12 as part of an investigation into a large-scale vehicle smuggling operation.

The inquiry was prompted by information revealed during the interrogation of a key suspect linked to the smuggling ring. Allegations have surfaced that this unlawful activity occurred during the years 2020 and 2021, with accusations directly implicating Yoshitha Rajapaksa.

Reports indicate that a luxury Lexus vehicle, valued at over Rs. 100 million, was imported illegally without paying the necessary customs duties. Investigators have confirmed that the importation of such vehicles was strictly prohibited, raising serious legal issues.

Furthermore, intelligence suggests that numerous other high-value vehicles were also smuggled into the country through illicit routes. The investigations have broadened to encompass these additional vehicles, which are believed to have cost the government millions in lost tax revenue.

The authorities are expected to summon more influential individuals linked to this smuggling operation for questioning in the near future as the CID continues its probing into the matter.
