 මීගමුව, පල්ලන්සේන එළිමහන් බන්ධනාගාරයේ හටගත් නොසන්සුන්කාරී තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා පොලිසිය විසින් කඳුළු ගෑස් ප්‍රහාරයක් එල්ල කර තිබේ.

Police Deploy Tear Gas Amid Disturbances at Negombo Prison

Violence erupted at the Negombo Prison, prompting police to resort to tear gas to regain control of the situation. Tensions escalated rapidly within the facility, necessitating intervention from specialized police units, including the Riot Control Unit and the Sri Lanka Air Force, which were called to the scene.

The unrest was exacerbated by inmates launching continuous rock attacks against prison officials and security personnel, forcing authorities to deploy tear gas to restore order.

As inmates engaged in disruptive behavior inside the prison, a large crowd of residents gathered outside, witnessing the chaotic scene unfold.

In light of similar disturbances reported in several prisons across the island, security measures have been significantly heightened at the Badulla Prison as a precautionary measure.

Furthermore, it has been disclosed that ten inmates, recently transferred from the Mahara Prison amid previous altercations, are currently being held at Negombo Prison.

Under the direct supervision of the police and specialized task forces, a robust security protocol is now in place to address the situation.
