 ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාව හැර අනෙකුත් ඉන්ධන සැපයුම් සමාගම් ණය පදනම මත ඉන්ධන නිකුත් කිරීම ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කිරීම හේතුවෙන්, දීර්ඝ සති අන්තයේදී ඉන්ධන පිරවුම්හල්වල තාවකාලික ඉන්ධන හිඟයක් ඇතිවීමේ අවදානමක් පවතින බව සමස්ත ලංකා ඉන්ධන පිරවුම්හල් හිමියන්ගේ සංගමය අනතුරු අඟවයි.

එම සංගමයේ සභාපති කුමාර රාජපක්ෂ මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, ඇතැම් පෞද්ගලික ඉන්ධන සැපයුම්කරුවන් මේ දිනවල ඉන්ධන නිකුත් කිරීමේදී එසැණින් මුදල් ගෙවන ලෙස බලකර සිටින බවයි.

මේ හේතුවෙන් ඇතැම් පිරවුම්හල් හිමියන් ඉන්ධන ඇණවුම් කිරීමෙන් වැළකී සිටින බවත්, එය සති අන්තයේදී පාරිභෝගිකයන්ට බලපාන ඉන්ධන හිඟයකට මඟ පෑදිය හැකි බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාවෙන් ඉන්ධන ලබාගන්නා පිරවුම්හල් සඳහා මෙම ගැටලුව බලනොපාන බවත්, එම සංස්ථාව තවදුරටත් පිරවුම්හල් හිමියන් සඳහා ණය පහසුකම් ලබාදෙන බවත් ඔහු පැවසීය.

පිරවුම්හල්වල සිදුවන ගනුදෙනුවලින් බහුතරයක් ක්‍රෙඩිට් කාඩ්පත් මගින් සිදුවන අතර, එම මුදල් පිරවුම්හල් හිමියන්ගේ ගිණුම්වලට බැර වීමට දින කිහිපයක් ගතවීම නිසා පෞද්ගලික සැපයුම්කරුවන්ට එසැණින් මුදල් ගෙවීමට පිරවුම්හල් හිමියන් අපහසුතාවයට පත්ව සිටින බවද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් පැහැදිලි කළේය.

මේ අතර, මැදපෙරදිග පවතින යුදමය වාතාවරණය සහ ගෝලීය ඉන්ධන මිලෙහි පවතින අවිනිශ්චිතතාවය සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන, ඉන්ධන බෙදාහැරීම සඳහා දැනට ක්‍රියාත්මක QR කේත ක්‍රමය තවදුරටත් පවත්වාගෙන යන බව රජය පවසයි.

කැබිනට් මාධ්‍ය හමුවේදී අදහස් දක්වමින් රජයේ මාධ්‍ය ප්‍රකාශක වෛද්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, ලෝක වෙළඳපොළේ තත්ත්වය යහපත් වන තෙක් මහජනතාවට බාධාවකින් තොරව ඉන්ධන සැපයීම සහතික කිරීම සඳහා මෙම තීරණය ගත් බවයි.

පවතින තත්ත්වය හමුවේ මෙරට ඩීසල් පරිභෝජනය 10%කින් සහ පෙට්‍රල් පරිභෝජනය 5%කින් පමණ පහත වැටී ඇති බවද අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

ගෝලීය ඉන්ධන අර්බුදය සමනය වන තෙක් QR ක්‍රමය අඛණ්ඩව ක්‍රියාත්මක වනු ඇතැයි රජය අපේක්ෂා කරයි.

Concerns Rise Over Fuel Shortages Amid Payment Issues with Private Suppliers

Amid ongoing financial constraints within the fuel distribution sector, fears of a temporary fuel shortage at petrol stations during the upcoming weekend have been raised by the All Lanka Fuel Station Owners' Association. The warning highlights potential disruptions as several private fuel suppliers demand immediate cash payments when dispensing fuel, creating reluctance among station owners to place orders.

Kumara Rajapaksha, the president of the association, revealed that this shift in payment policy has led some station operators to refrain from ordering fuel. He expressed concerns that this could result in a significant fuel shortage for consumers over the weekend.

In contrast, he noted that fuel stations receiving supplies from the Lanka Mineral Oil Corporation are not affected by this situation, as the corporation continues to provide credit facilities to fuel station operators.

A majority of transactions at petrol stations are processed through credit cards, but the funds take several days to clear into the operators' accounts. Rajapaksha underscored the inconveniences faced by operators, highlighting the payment delays as a significant barrier to timely fuel procurement.

Meanwhile, considering the current geopolitical tensions and the volatility of global oil prices, the government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the existing QR code distribution system for fuel. This system is expected to remain in operation to ensure access to fuel amidst ongoing uncertainties.

Speaking at a cabinet media briefing, government spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa confirmed that this measure was put in place to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply to the public until conditions in the global market improve.

In light of the current circumstances, the minister disclosed that diesel consumption has dropped by 10%, while petrol usage has decreased by 5%. The government anticipates that the QR system will remain in effect until the global fuel crisis stabilizes.
