කැළණි ගගට කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවක විෂ රසායන එක්වෙලා..

 කැලණි ගඟට පෞද්ගලික කර්මාන්ත ශාලාවකින් විෂ රසායන ද්‍රව්‍ය මුදාහැරීම හේතුවෙන් තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවා තිබූ කොළඹ සහ ගම්පහ දිස්ත්‍රික්කවල ප්‍රදේශ කිහිපයක ජල සැපයුම මේ වන විට යථා තත්ත්වයට පත් කර ඇති බව ජාතික ජලසම්පාදන හා ජලාපවහන මණ්ඩලය පවසයි.

එම මණ්ඩලයේ සභාපති චන්දන බණ්ඩාර මහතා මේ බව තහවුරු කළේය.

24 වනදා රාත්‍රී 11.30ට පමණ ලැබුණු හදිසි තොරතුරකට අනුව, අඹතලේ සහ බියගම  යන ප්‍රධාන ජල පවිත්‍රාගාර දෙකෙහි කටයුතු වහාම අත්හිටුවීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබේ.

මෙම පූර්ව ආරක්ෂිත පියවර හේතුවෙන් කොළඹ නගරය, කෝට්ටේ, බත්තරමුල්ල, වැල්ලම්පිටිය මෙන්ම ගම්පහ, බියගම සහ කැලණිය යන ප්‍රදේශවල ජල සැපයුමට බාධා එල්ල විය.

ආපදා කළමනාකරණ මධ්‍යස්ථානය සහ ආරක්ෂක අංශ සමඟ එක්ව සිදුකළ පුළුල් විමර්ශනවලින් අනතුරුව, ජලයේ ගුණාත්මකභාවය පිළිබඳව විද්‍යාත්මකව තහවුරු කර ගැනීමෙන් පසු අද (25) අලුයම 4.30 සිට ජල පවිත්‍රකරණ සහ බෙදාහැරීමේ කටයුතු යළි ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

උදෑසන 9.00 වන විට සියලුම ප්‍රදේශවලට ජල සැපයුම සාමාන්‍ය පරිදි ලබාදීමට හැකි වූ බව සභාපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

මෙම සිදුවීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් මධ්‍යම පරිසර අධිකාරියට සහ පොලිසියට පැමිණිලි කර ඇති බවත්, වගකිවයුතු පාර්ශවයන්ට එරෙහිව දැඩි නීතිමය පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ඉල්ලා ඇති බවත් බණ්ඩාර මහතා පැවසීය.

කිසිදු අයුරකින් අපවිත්‍ර වූ ජලය පාරිභෝගිකයන් වෙත නිකුත් කර නොමැති බවට ඔහු මෙහිදී සහතික විය.

Water Supply Restored After Chemical Contamination in Kelani River

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has announced the restoration of water supply in several regions of Colombo and Gampaha districts, which had been temporarily suspended due to the release of hazardous chemicals from a private industrial facility into the Kelani River.

Board Chairman Chandana Bandara confirmed the resumption of services, noting that immediate action was taken following an emergency alert received around 11:30 PM on the 24th. As a precautionary measure, operations at two major water purification plants in Ambathale and Biyagama were halted.

This proactive decision disrupted the water supply to several areas, including Colombo city, Kotte, Baththaramulla, Wellampitiya, as well as parts of Gampaha, Biyagama, and Kelaniya.

Following extensive investigations conducted in collaboration with the Disaster Management Center and security forces, water quality was scientifically confirmed, enabling the recommencement of purification and distribution activities at 4:30 AM today, the 25th.

By 9:00 AM, the water supply had been restored to normal across all affected regions, according to Bandara.

He also stated that complaints regarding the incident have been filed with the Central Environmental Authority and the police, urging stringent legal action against the responsible parties. Bandara assured that no contaminated water had been distributed to consumers.
