නගර සභා නියෝජනය කරන පක්ෂ විපක්ෂ සියලු මන්ත්රීවරුන්ගේ සහභාගීත්වයෙන් රැස්වීම ආරම්භ වූ අතර, එහිදී සභාපති මොහොමඩ් මබාෂිම් මහතා විසින් ව්යාපාරික යෝජනා දහයක් පමණ සභාවට ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලදී.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, සමගි ජන බලවේගයේ මන්ත්රී එම්.එන්.එම්. ඉර්ෂාඩ් මහතා එම යෝජනාවලට සිය දැඩි විරෝධය පළ කිරීමත් සමඟ සභාපතිවරයා එම යෝජනා තාවකාලිකව ඉල්ලා අස්කර ගැනීමට කටයුතු කළේය.
අනතුරුව සභාවේ උණුසුම් තත්ත්වය වර්ධනය වූයේ ඉර්ෂාඩ් මන්ත්රීවරයා විසින් සභාපතිවරයාට එරෙහිව එල්ල කරන ලද පෞද්ගලික චෝදනාවක් හේතුවෙනි.
සභාපතිවරයා සිය නිල කාමරයේ සිටි අවස්ථාවක රියදුරෙකු සහ සේවිකාවක කැඳවා, බාහිර පුද්ගලයෙකු සම්බන්ධ කරගනිමින් අශෝභන සහ සදාචාර විරෝධී ප්රකාශයක් කළ බවට මන්ත්රීවරයා චෝදනා කළේය.

පවතින තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීමට නොහැකි වීම හමුවේ සභාපති මොහොමඩ් මබාෂිම් මහතා රැස්වීම අවසන් බව නිවේදනය කර සභා ගර්භයෙන් පිටව ගියේය.
රැස්වීමෙන් අනතුරුව මාධ්ය වෙත අදහස් දැක්වූ ඉර්ෂාඩ් මන්ත්රීවරයා අවධාරණය කළේ, සභාපතිවරයා නිවැරදි නම් අදාළ සේවකයන් සභාවට කැඳවා තමන් ඉදිරිපත් කළ චෝදනාව අසත්ය බව ඔප්පු කළ යුතු බවයි. එසේ නොකර සභාපතිවරයා රැස්වීම අතරමග නතර කර පලා යන්නේ මන්දැයි ඔහු ප්රශ්න කර සිටියේය.
Disruption at Beruwala Municipal Council Meeting Amid Heated Exchange
The monthly meeting of the Beruwala Municipal Council took an unexpected turn, leading to its abrupt suspension due to a heated atmosphere and verbal altercation among council members. The chairperson, Mohamad Mabashim, exited the session due to escalating tensions.
The meeting commenced with participation from both the governing coalition and opposition members, during which the chairperson presented approximately ten business proposals to the council.
However, opposition member M.N.M. Irshad expressed strong objections to these proposals. As a result, the chairperson decided to temporarily withdraw the suggestions from consideration.
The situation intensified when Irshad accused the chairperson of making improper remarks regarding a personal issue involving a driver and a staff member in his official office. He alleged that the chairperson had made inappropriate and unethical statements concerning an external individual.
This allegation was met with vehement denial from the chairperson, who dismissed it as a fabrication intended to discredit him.
The clash created an atmosphere of heightened unrest within the council chamber, prompting Vice-Chairman Wimalasiri Silva, Opposition Leader M.M. Inam, and other municipal representatives to engage in a series of debates and disagreements.
Faced with an inability to control the situation, Chairperson Mohamad Mabashim announced the meeting's conclusion and left the council chamber.
Following the meeting, Irshad addressed the media, highlighting that if the chairperson was indeed innocent, he should call the involved staff members to the council to prove the falsehood of the allegations raised. He questioned the chairperson's abrupt departure in the midst of the proceedings.
