තමන්ට එරෙහිව එල්ල වී ඇති ඉඩම් ගනුදෙනු චෝදනාව මාධ්‍ය මඟින් ප්‍රචාරය නොකර සිටීම සඳහා සිවිල් ක්‍රියාකාරිකයෙකු වන සංජය මහවත්ත නැමැත්තා තමන්ගෙන් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ දහයක මුදලක් කප්පම් වශයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටි බව සමඟි ජන බලවේගයේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී ජගත් විතාන මහතා චෝදනා කරයි.

සිදු වූ අපහාසයට එරෙහිව තමන් මේ වන විටත් අදාළ පාර්ශ්වයන් වෙත එන්තරවාසි යවා ඇති බවත්, ඉදිරියේදී වන්දි ඉල්ලා නඩු පවරන බවත් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

මාධ්‍ය හමුවක් අමතමින් මන්ත්‍රීවරයා කියා සිටියේ, අදාළ සිදුවීම ප්‍රචාරය කිරීම සඳහා පැමිණිලිකාර පාර්ශ්වයෙන් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ පහක මුදලක් ඉල්ලා ඇති බවත්, එය මාධ්‍ය මඟින් ප්‍රචාරය නොකර යටපත් කිරීමට නම් තමන්ගෙන් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ දහයක මුදලක් වක්‍රාකාරයෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටි බවත්ය.

කිසිදු වරදක් සිදු නොකළ බැවින් තමන් සත පහක් හෝ ලබා දීම ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ බව පැවසූ මන්ත්‍රීවරයා, එහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස තමන්ට එරෙහිව අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව වෙත ගොස් අසත්‍ය ප්‍රකාශ සිදු කරමින් එම දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවද හෑල්ලුවට ලක් කරමින් සිටින බව පැවසීය.

අදාළ ඉඩම් ගනුදෙනුව පිළිබඳ කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ ජගත් විතාන මහතා, තමන් විසින් වසර 15කට පමණ පෙර මිලදී ගත් ඉඩමක් ඉල්ලුමක් ලැබීමෙන් අනතුරුව නීත්‍යනුකූලව විකිණීමට කටයුතු කළ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

මීට පෙර මතුගම මහේස්ත්‍රාත් අධිකරණයේදී මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් නඩුවක් විභාග වූ අවස්ථාවේදී අදාළ අත්සන් නිවැරදි බවට රජයේ රස පරීක්ෂක වාර්තා පවා ලැබී තිබූ බවත්, එම පාර්ශ්වය වෙත රුපියල් දෙලක්ෂ පනස්දහසක මුදලක් ගෙවා නීත්‍යනුකූලව කටයුතු අවසන් කළ බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

මෙම සියලු ගනුදෙනු බැංකු ගිණුම් සහ නීතිඥවරුන් ඉදිරියේ සිදු වූ බවට සියලු ලිඛිත සාක්ෂි පවතින බවද ඔහු කියා සිටියේය.

ස්වාධීන මාධ්‍ය කලාවට මුවා වී ඇතැම් පුද්ගලයින් මුදල් ගැරීමේ ජාවාරමක නිරත වන බවට චෝදනා කළ මන්ත්‍රීවරයා, මෙවැනි ක්‍රියා මඟින් දේශපාලන වාසි ලබා ගැනීමට ඉඩ නොතබන බවත්, තමන් මන්ත්‍රී වැටුපෙන් හෝ වරප්‍රසාදවලින් යැපෙන අයෙකු නොවන බවත් වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

Allegations of Extortion Against MP Jagath Vithanage

A civil rights activist, Sanjaya Mahawaththa, is accused by Member of Parliament Jagath Vithanage of attempting to extort ten million rupees in exchange for suppressing negative media coverage regarding land deal accusations directed against Vithanage.

The MP stated that he has sent formal notices to the relevant parties concerning the allegations and intends to pursue legal action for damages in the near future.

During a recent press conference, Vithanage elaborated that the activist demanded a sum of five hundred thousand rupees to avoid publicizing the incident, explicitly requesting ten million rupees in a convoluted attempt to silence him.

Firmly denying any wrongdoing, the MP rejected the proposition of paying any amount and indicated that this refusal has led to false statements being made to the Department of Criminal Investigations, which he claims has also been manipulated by other parties.

Clarifying the details surrounding the land deal, Vithanage mentioned that the property in question was legally sold after receiving a legitimate offer, having been purchased about 15 years ago.

He also pointed out that during previous court proceedings at the Matugama Magistrate's Court, a government forensic expert confirmed the authenticity of the signatures involved, asserting that he had completed the transaction lawfully after paying two hundred and fifty thousand rupees to the concerned party.

Vithanage stressed that all transactions were conducted through bank accounts and involved attorneys, emphasizing that adequate written evidence exists to support his claims.

In his remarks, the MP accused certain individuals, allegedly protected by independent media, of being involved in money laundering schemes, asserting that he does not seek political advantage from such actions and does not derive his income from his parliamentary salary or any privileges.
