 මෙරට පිළිකා රෝගීන් සඳහා අත්‍යවශ්‍ය 'ෆිල්ගැස්ටීන්' (Filgrastim - G CSF) එන්නත් තොගයක් ගබඩාවල පවතිද්දී, තාක්ෂණික හේතු මත ඒවා රෝහල් පද්ධතියට මුදා නොහැරීම වත්මන් රජය අපහසුතාවට පත් කිරීමේ කුමන්ත්‍රණයක් දැයි සැකයක් පවතින බව වෛද්‍ය හා සිවිල් අයිතිවාසිකම් පිළිබඳ වෛද්‍යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය සමිති සන්ධානය පවසයි.

එම සන්ධානයේ සභාපති විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ, රෝගීන් මියයාම සම්බන්ධයෙන් බරපතළ ප්‍රශ්න මතු වූ ඇතැම් ඖෂධ පවා අනුමත කළ ඖෂධ නියාමන අධිකාරිය, මෙම එන්නත් කුප්පියේ පිටුපස ලේබලය නොමැති වීම වැනි සුළු කරුණක් මත පදනම්ව එය භාවිතයට අවසර නොදීම ගැටලු සහගත බවයි.

චීනයෙන් අදාළ ලේබලය ගෙන්වා නිසි අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ අලවා හෝ විශේෂඥ කමිටු අනුමැතිය මත මෙම ඖෂධය රෝගීන්ට ලබා දීමට කටයුතු නොකිරීම පිටුපස කිසියම් අදෘශ්‍යමාන හස්තයක් ක්‍රියාත්මක වන්නේ දැයි ඔහු ප්‍රශ්න කරයි.

සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙම අර්බුදය විසඳීමට සාධනීය මැදිහත්වීමක් සිදු කර තිබියදීත්, නියාමන අධිකාරියේ මාර්ගෝපදේශ උල්ලංඝනය වී ඇතැයි පවසමින් වෛද්‍ය සැපයුම් ඒකකය මෙම ඖෂධ භාර නොගැනීම නිසා පිළිකා රෝගීන් විශාල පිරිසක් දැඩි අසරණභාවයට පත්ව සිටිති.

රුපියල් මිලියන 250කට අධික වටිනාකමකින් යුත්, ඇමෙරිකානු ඩොලර් ලක්ෂ පහකට ආසන්න විදේශ විනිමයක් වැය කර ගෙන්වන ලද මෙම ඖෂධ තොගය භාවිතයට නොගෙන විනාශ වීමට ඉඩ හැරීම ජාතික අපරාධයක් බව ද වෛද්‍යවරයා අවධාරණය කළේය.

දැනට මෙරට පිළිකා ඖෂධ වර්ග 40ක පමණ හිඟයක් පවතින අතර, එම අවස්ථාවෙන් ප්‍රයෝජන ගන්නා ජාවාරම්කරුවන් නීත්‍යානුකූල නොවන ක්‍රමවලින් ගෙන්වන ඖෂධ අධික මිලට අලෙවි කරමින් සිටිති. එවැනි ජාවාරම් වැටලීමට උනන්දු නොවන නියාමන අධිකාරිය, නිසි පරිදි ලියාපදිංචි වී ගෙන්වන ලද ඖෂධ සඳහා විවිධ බාධා පමුණුවන්නේ වෙනත් සමාගම්වල වුවමනාවන් මත දැයි සැකයක් පවතින බව ද හෙතෙම පැවසීය.

සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශය යටතේ පවතින ආයතනවල මෙවැනි ගැටලු දිගින් දිගටම මතු වන බැවින්, පසුගිය පාලන සමයන්හිදී පත් කරන ලද වගකිවයුතු නිලධාරීන් වහාම ධුරවලින් ඉවත් කිරීමට ජනාධිපතිවරයා පියවර ගත යුතු බව විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය චමල් සංජීව මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

Concerns Rise Over Unutilized Cancer Treatment Vaccine Amid Health Administration Failures

The Sri Lankan healthcare community has raised alarm over the government's inability to distribute a vital cancer treatment vaccine, Filgrastim (G CSF), currently stockpiled. Medical professionals speculate whether this situation reflects a deliberate strategy to hinder patient access during an ongoing health crisis.

Dr. Chamala Sanjeewa, President of the Association of Medical Professionals and Civil Rights Advocates, highlighted critical issues surrounding patient mortality related to approved medications. He pointed out the absurdity of the regulatory authority denying usage of this vaccine due to a minor flaw—namely, the absence of a label on the vaccine package.

He questioned whether unseen forces might be preventing the distribution of this essential medicine, which could be procured from China with the proper oversight or committee approval.

Despite the Health Minister's efforts to resolve the crisis, the failure of the medical supply unit to facilitate the vaccine's distribution has left many cancer patients in dire circumstances, thus breaching regulatory guidelines.

Dr. Sanjeewa emphasized that the potential waste of this batch of medicine, valued at over 250 million rupees and costing nearly five hundred thousand U.S. dollars, constitutes a national crime.

Currently, there is a significant shortage of approximately 40 types of cancer medications in Sri Lanka, prompting smugglers to exploit the situation by charging exorbitant prices for illicitly procured drugs. Dr. Sanjeewa expressed concern that the regulatory authority appears indifferent to the rampant smuggling, while imposing unnecessary obstacles on genuinely registered supply chains.

He urged President's intervention to dismiss responsible officials appointed during previous administrations, as ongoing systemic issues within health institutions under the Ministry of Health continue to surface.

In closing, Dr. Sanjeewa reaffirmed the association's commitment to working collaboratively with the Health Minister in seeking viable solutions to the current healthcare crisis.
