ග්‍රේග්ලි තේ කර්මාන්තශාලාව අසල උණුසුම් තත්ත්වයක්..

 කොටගල වතු සමාගමට අයත් ග්‍රේග්ලි (Craiglea) වතුයායේ වතුකම්කරුවන් විසින් වතු අධිකාරීවරයාගේ ක්‍රියාකලාපයට එරෙහිව ආරම්භ කළ වැඩ වර්ජනය දෙවන දිනටත් සක්‍රියව ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ. 

වතු පාලනාධිකාරියේ අත්තනෝමතික තීරණවලට විරෝධය පළ කරමින් වතුකම්කරුවෝ ග්‍රේග්ලි තේ කර්මාන්තශාලාව ඉදිරිපිට විරෝධතාවක ද නිරත වූහ.

වතුයායේ තිබූ ගස් කපා විකිණීමෙන් ලැබෙන ලාභයෙන් යම් කොටසක් තමන් වෙත ලබා දෙන බවට ලබා දුන් පොරොන්දුව ඉටු නොකිරීම මෙයට ප්‍රධාන හේතුව වී ඇත. එම මුදල් ලබා නොදී, වතුකම්කරුවන් මුහුණ දෙන කිසිදු ගැටලුවකට විසඳුම් ලබා නොදෙමින් වතු අධිකාරීවරයා රහසිගතව ස්ථාන මාරුවක් ලබා පිටව යාමට සූදානම් වන බවට කම්කරුවෝ චෝදනා කරති. 

තවද, ගස් ප්‍රවාහනය සඳහා පැමිණි විශාල රථ වාහන හේතුවෙන් වතුයායට ඇතුළු වන ප්‍රධාන මාර්ගය දැඩි ලෙස අබලන් වී ඇති අතර, එය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර දෙන බවට වතු අධිකාරීවරයා වූ පොරොන්දුව ද පැහැර හැර ඇති බව විරෝධතාකරුවෝ පවසති.

මෙම ගැටලුව සම්බන්ධයෙන් විසඳුමක් ලබා ගැනීමට වතුකම්කරුවන් දිඹුලපතන පොලිසිය වෙත ගිය ද, වතු අධිකාරීවරයා ඇතුළු පාලනාධිකාරිය දන්වා ඇත්තේ හැටන් කම්කරු කාර්යාලය වෙත පැමිණ සාකච්ඡා කරන ලෙසයි. 

කෙසේ වෙතත්, එම යෝජනාව ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ වතුකම්කරුවෝ වර්ජනය දිගටම පවත්වාගෙන යති.

දිඹුලපතන පොලිස් ස්ථානාධිපතිවරයා පැමිණ තත්ත්වය නිරාකරණය කිරීමට උත්සාහ කළ ද, තමන් ඉදිරිපත් කරන පැමිණිලි භාර ගැනීමට පොලිසිය කටයුතු නොකරන බවට චෝදනා කරමින් වතුකම්කරුවෝ සිය විරෝධතාව තවදුරටත් ඉදිරියට ගෙන යති.

Protest by Craiglea Tea Workers Continues Amidst Unresolved Grievances

Workers at the Craiglea tea plantation in Kotagala have entered the second day of a protest against the actions of the tea authority, showing no signs of backing down. The tea pickers staged a demonstration in front of the Craiglea tea factory, voicing their discontent over the unilateral decisions made by the estate management.

Central to their grievances is the failure of the management to fulfill a promise of sharing profits from the sale of cut trees within the plantation. Tea workers allege that despite assurances, no funds have been distributed, and the estate's manager appears to be preparing to leave discreetly without addressing any issues faced by the laborers.

Further complicating the situation, large vehicles arriving to transport trees have severely blocked access to the main road leading to the plantation. Protesters claim the tea authority had promised to rectify this problem but has since reneged on this commitment.

In an attempt to resolve the matter, the disgruntled tea workers approached the Dimbulapitiya police. However, they were told that the management, including the estate manager, had been directed to go to the workers’ office in Hatton for discussions.

Rejecting this suggestion, the workers are determined to continue their strike. Although the Dimbulapitiya police station chief attempted to mediate the situation, the workers accused law enforcement of failing to address their complaints adequately, insisting on carrying forward their protest.

As tensions remain high, the future of the negotiations appears uncertain, leaving the plantation workers firmly committed to their cause.
