2027 වසරේ සිට ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමට නියමිත නව අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ යටතේ අ.පො.ස. සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගය සඳහා වන විෂය ධාරාව විෂයයන් හතක් දක්වා අඩු කිරීමටත්, උසස් පෙළ විෂය මාලාවට සමාජ සංහිඳියාව, නීතිය හා ආචාර ධර්ම ඇතුළත් නව මොඩියුල එක් කිරීමටත් සැලසුම් කර තිබේ.

අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය ආචාර්ය හරිනි අමරසූරිය මෙණෙවියගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී රැස්වූ අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ පිළිබඳ අනුකාරක සභාවේදී මෙම කරුණු අනාවරණය විය.

එහිදී යෝජිත නව අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණවල වත්මන් ප්‍රගතිය සමාලෝචනයට ලක් කෙරිණි.

යෝජිත නව වැඩපිළිවෙළ යටතේ සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විෂයයන් සංඛ්‍යාව හතක් දක්වා අඩු කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා අතර, ඊට ඉතිහාසය සහ සෞන්දර්ය විෂයයන් ද ඇතුළත් කිරීමට නියමිතය. ඊට අමතරව, සිසුන්ගේ ප්‍රායෝගික නිපුණතා වර්ධනය කිරීම අරමුණු කරගනිමින් 10 සහ 11 ශ්‍රේණිවල සිටම වෘත්තීය අධ්‍යාපනය හඳුන්වා දීමටද සැලසුම් කර ඇත.

එමෙන්ම 12 සහ 13 උසස් පෙළ ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා සිසුන් තුළ යහපත් ආකල්ප සහ පුරවැසි වගකීම් ප්‍රවර්ධනය කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් සමාජ සංහිඳියාව, නීතිය සහ ආචාර ධර්ම ආවරණය වන පරිදි විශේෂ මොඩියුල හඳුන්වා දීමට කටයුතු යොදා තිබේ.

මෙහිදී අනාවරණය වූයේ 2 සහ 6 ශ්‍රේණි සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ක්‍රියාකාරකම්, පෙළපොත්, ගුරු මාර්ගෝපදේශ සහ අදාළ මොඩියුල මේ වන විටත් සකස් කර අවසන්ව ඇති අතර, ඊට අදාළ ගුරු පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් දැනටමත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙමින් පවතින බවයි.

තවද, මෙරට පෙරපාසල් අධ්‍යාපනය විධිමත් කිරීම අරමුණු කරගනිමින් ජාතික අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් සකස් කර ඇති අතර, පෙරපාසල් ලියාපදිංචි කිරීම, විෂය මාලා සහ ගුරු මාර්ගෝපදේශ සම්පාදනය මෙන්ම පෙරපාසල් ගුරු පුහුණු වැඩසටහන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේ කටයුතුද මේ වන විට ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

මෙම නව අධ්‍යාපන ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ පිළිබඳව පාර්ශ්වකරුවන් සහ මහජනතාව දැනුවත් කිරීමේ විශේෂ වැඩසටහන් මාලාවක් ඉදිරියේදී දිවයින පුරා ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමටද නියමිතය.

Revamp of Sri Lankan Education System Set to Begin in 2027

In a significant shift for the Sri Lankan education landscape, plans for a new educational reform set to take effect in 2027 include the reduction of subjects for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level exams from nine to seven. Additionally, a new module covering Social Harmony, Law, and Ethics will be introduced to the Advanced Level curriculum.

This announcement came during a meeting of the advisory committee on educational reforms, chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, held in Parliament. The committee reviewed the current progress of the proposed educational changes.

Under the new reform framework, the number of subjects for the Ordinary Level examinations will be streamlined, with the inclusion of History and Aesthetics. Moreover, vocational education is planned to be introduced from Grades 10 and 11 to enhance students’ practical skills.

Furthermore, special modules focusing on Social Harmony, Law, and Ethics are set to be incorporated for students in Grades 12 and 13 to promote positive values and civic responsibility.

It was also revealed that necessary materials including activities, textbooks, teacher guidelines, and relevant modules for Grades 2 and 6 have already been developed, with associated teacher training programs currently underway.

In a bid to streamline preschool education, a national education policy has been formulated. Efforts to regulate preschool registration, develop curricula, and create training programs for preschool teachers are already in motion.

Moreover, special awareness programs to inform stakeholders and the public about these educational reforms are scheduled to be implemented nationwide in the near future.
