 ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය විසින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලබන දේශීය ක්‍රිකට් තරගාවලියේ ව්‍යුහය වෙනස් කරමින් කණ්ඩායම් සංඛ්‍යාව අඩු කිරීමට ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයා ගෙන ඇති තීරණයට එරෙහිව බදුරලිය ක්‍රීඩා සමාජය අභියාචනාධිකරණය හමුවේ පෙත්සමක් ගොනු කර තිබේ.

ක්‍රීඩා අමාත්‍යවරයාගේ නියෝගය පරිදි පළමු පෙළ ක්‍රිකට් තරගාවලියට එක්වන කණ්ඩායම් 14ක සංඛ්‍යාව, 2026/2027 තරග වාරයේ සිට 12 දක්වා අඩු කිරීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකා ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනය පියවර ගෙන ඇත.

ඒ අනුව, ප්‍රසාද ලකුණු සටහනේ අවසන් ස්ථාන තුන ලබා ගන්නා කණ්ඩායම් දෙවන පෙළ දක්වා පහත හෙළීමට නියමිතය. මීට පෙර ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ ක්‍රමවේදය අනුව දෙවන පෙළට යොමු කෙරුණේ අවසන් ස්ථානය ලබා ගන්නා කණ්ඩායම පමණි.

මෙම තීරණය සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදහස් දක්වමින් බදුරලිය ක්‍රීඩා සමාජයේ සභාපති සුමිත් පෙරේරා මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, අමාත්‍යවරයාගේ මෙම ක්‍රියාව ක්‍රිකට් ආයතනයේ ව්‍යවස්ථාවට මෙන්ම ක්‍රීඩා පනතට ද පටහැනි බවයි.

මෙවැනි තීරණ හේතුවෙන් බදුරලිය වැනි ගම්බද ක්‍රීඩා සමාජවලට දැඩි අසාධාරණයක් සිදුවන බවත්, එමගින් දක්ෂ ක්‍රීඩක ක්‍රීඩිකාවන්ගේ අනාගතය අඳුරු වන බවත් ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

විශේෂයෙන්ම, පසුගිය සතියේ පැවති අන්තර් ක්‍රීඩා සමාජ ප්‍රමුඛතම කාණ්ඩයේ කාන්තා ක්‍රිකට් ශූරතාව දිනා ගැනීමට බදුරලිය ක්‍රීඩා සමාජය සමත් වූ පසුබිමක, මෙවැනි තීරණ හරහා ක්‍රීඩා සමාජ අධෛර්යමත් කිරීම අනුමත කළ නොහැකි බව ද සභාපතිවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.

අමාත්‍යවරයාගේ මෙම නියෝගය බලරහිත කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලා ගොනු කළ අදාළ පෙත්සම ලබන සිකුරාදා දින අභියාචනාධිකරණය හමුවේ විභාගයට ගැනීමට නියමිතව ඇත.

Sports Ministry's Decision to Reduce Cricket Teams Faces Legal Challenge

The Buduraliya Sports Society has filed a petition against the Sports Minister's decision to decrease the number of teams participating in the domestic cricket tournaments organized by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). This legal action comes in response to the Minister's directive to cut the number of teams from 14 to 12 starting from the 2026/2027 season.

Under the proposed new structure, the teams finishing in the bottom three of the points table will be relegated to the second tier, a significant deviation from the previous system where only the last-placed team faced relegation.

President of the Buduraliya Sports Society, Sumith Perera, criticized the Minister's move, stating that it undermines both the constitution of Sri Lanka Cricket and the Sports Act. He expressed concern that such decisions create severe injustices for grassroots sports societies like Buduraliya, potentially darkening the future for talented athletes.

Highlighting the recent success of the Buduraliya Sports Society in clinching the championship in the top tier of women's cricket, Perera pointed out that enhancing the capacity of sports societies should take precedence over such detrimental decisions.

The petition seeking to declare the Minister's directive null and void is set to be heard in court this Friday, raising anticipation over the potential implications for the future of cricket in Sri Lanka.
