 පිළිකා රෝගීන් සඳහා අත්‍යවශ්‍ය කීමෝ තෙරපි ඖෂධ හිඟයට විසඳුම් ලෙස රජය මැදිහත් වී දේශීය වෙළෙඳපොළෙන් ඖෂධ මිලදී ගැනීමට පියවර ගෙන ඇති බව සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය සහ කැබිනට් ප්‍රකාශක නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

කැබිනට් තීරණ දැනුම් දීම සඳහා පැවැති මාධ්‍ය හමුවේදී අදහස් දක්වමින් අමාත්‍යවරයා කියා සිටියේ, මීට පෙර මෙරටට ගෙන්වන ලද එන්නත් එක්ලක්ෂ හැටදහසක (160,000) තොගයක් තාක්ෂණික දෝෂයක් හේතුවෙන් භාර ගැනීමට නොහැකි වූ බවයි.

එම ඖෂධ තොගයේ පිටත ඇසුරුම්වල සියලු තොරතුරු සඳහන්ව තිබුණ ද, එන්නත් සිරිංජවල අදාළ තොරතුරු සඳහන් නොවීම හේතුවෙන් පවතින නීතිමය සහ ප්‍රසම්පාදන රෙගුලාසි මත ඒවා භාර ගැනීමට නොහැකි වූ බව ඔහු පැහැදිලි කළේය.

"අදාළ ඖෂධ තොගයේ ගුණාත්මකභාවය හෝ වෙනත් ගැටලුවක් වුවහොත් අපට වගකීමක් ගත නොහැකි තත්ත්වයක් තිබුණා. ඒ නිසා එම තොගය ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කිරීමට සිදු වුණා.

මේ වන විට අපේක්ෂා රෝහලේ පවතින හිඟය මඟහරවා ගැනීමට රජය මැදිහත් වී දේශීය ලියාපදිංචි සැපයුම්කරුවන්ගෙන් ඖෂධ මිලදී ගෙන රෝගීන්ට ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කරමින් සිටිනවා," යැයි අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.

චීන සමාගමකින් ඇණවුම් කර ඇති එන්නත් ලක්ෂ තුනක (300,000) තොගයෙන් කොටසක් මේ වන විටත් ලැබී ඇති බවත්, ඉතිරි එන්නත් දෙලක්ෂ හැත්තෑදහසක ප්‍රමාණය කඩිනමින් ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු සම්පාදනය කර ඇති බවත් අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

දේශීය වෙළෙඳපොළේ ඇතැම් ඖෂධ අධික මිල ගණන්වලට අලෙවි වන බවට මාධ්‍යවේදීන් නැගූ ප්‍රශ්නයකට පිළිතුරු දෙමින් ඔහු කියා සිටියේ, රජය කිසිසේත්ම අසාධාරණ මිල ගණන්වලට ඖෂධ මිලදී නොගන්නා බවත්, රෝගීන්ගේ ජීවිත ආරක්ෂා කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් විනිවිදභාවයකින් යුතුව මෙම මිලදී ගැනීම් සිදු කරන බවත්ය.

අපේක්ෂා රෝහලේ බලධාරීන් සහ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරුන් සමඟ මේ පිළිබඳව දීර්ඝ ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කර ඇති බවත්, ඉදිරි සති කිහිපය තුළ මෙම ඖෂධ හිඟය සම්පූර්ණයෙන් මඟහරවා ගැනීමට හැකි වනු ඇති බවත් අමාත්‍ය නලින්ද ජයතිස්ස මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය.

Government Intervenes to Address Chemotherapy Drug Shortage in Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan government has stepped in to resolve the critical shortage of essential chemotherapy medications, with plans to procure drugs from local suppliers, as announced by Health Minister and Cabinet spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa.

During a media briefing aimed at disclosing Cabinet decisions, the Minister revealed that a shipment of 160,000 vaccine doses previously imported had to be rejected due to a technical error. Although all the necessary information was provided on the external packaging, the syringes lacked the relevant details, making it impossible to accept them under existing legal and regulatory standards.

"In the event that there were quality issues or any other problems with the drug shipment, we would have had no obligation. As a result, the batch had to be rejected," he clarified.

The government is now working to prevent shortages at the Apeksha Hospital by purchasing medicines from registered local suppliers to ensure that patients receive the necessary treatment.

Additionally, the Minister disclosed that a portion of a larger order of 300,000 doses from a Chinese company has already been received, with steps being taken to expedite the arrival of the remaining 270,000 doses.

In response to concerns raised by journalists regarding the high pricing of certain medicines in the local market, he emphasized that the government will not purchase drugs at unjust prices and that all procurements are being carried out transparently to safeguard patients' lives.

He also highlighted that in-depth discussions have taken place with officials and specialist doctors at Apeksha Hospital, and he remains optimistic that the drug shortage can be completely resolved within the coming weeks.
