ප්රවාහන අමාත්යාංශයේ ලේකම්වරයා සහ ඒකාබද්ධ දුම්රිය වෘත්තීය සමිති නියෝජිතයන් අතර (14) පැවති විශේෂ සාකච්ඡාවකින් අනතුරුව වෘත්තීය සමිති නායකයෝ මේ බව නිවේදනය කළහ.
මෙම සාකච්ඡාවේදී දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව තුළ පවතින පරිපාලනමය හා මෙහෙයුම් ගැටලු, සේවක ගැටලු මෙන්ම මගී ජනතාව මුහුණ දෙන අපහසුතා රැසක් පිළිබඳව වෘත්තීය සමිති නියෝජිතයන් කරුණු පැහැදිලි කර ඇත. වත්මන් දුම්රිය සාමාන්යාධිකාරීවරයාගේ පරිපාලනය කෙරෙහි තමන්ට තවදුරටත් විශ්වාසයක් නොමැති බැවින්, ඔහුව එම ධුරයෙන් ඉවත් කිරීම සිය ප්රධාන ඉල්ලීම බව ඔවුහු එහිදී අවධාරණය කළහ.
මෙම වෘත්තීය සමිති ක්රියාමාර්ගය රජයට විරෝධය දැක්වීමක් නොව, කාර්යක්ෂම සහ විශ්වාසනීය සේවාවක් ස්ථාපිත කරමින් මගී ජනතාවට ඉහළ සේවාවක් සැපයීම සහ දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව යළි නඟාසිටුවීම එහි මූලික අරමුණ බව ද වෘත්තීය සමිති අවධාරණය කර සිටියි.
Railway Unions Announce Strike Amidst Leadership Discontent
In response to stalled discussions regarding the removal of the railway's chief administrator, the unified railway unions have announced a two-day symbolic strike scheduled for the 17th and 18th of this month. This decision comes after a lack of consensus during talks with authorities over the administrator's position.
Union leaders made the announcement following a special meeting with the Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, held on the 14th. During this meeting, railway representatives outlined various administrative and operational issues within the Department of Railways, including challenges faced by employees and difficulties affecting passengers.
The union representatives emphasized their diminishing trust in the current railway chief's administration, underscoring the removal of the chief administrator as their primary demand. They asserted that this leadership change is crucial for restoring efficiency within the railway system.
Union representatives clarified that this planned strike action is not an act of opposition against the government; rather, it aims to advocate for the establishment of a more efficient and reliable service for passengers, ultimately revitalizing the Department of Railways.
