මියගිය ‘කාවන්තිස්ස’ හස්තියාගේ වියෝවට බලධාරීන්ගේ ප්‍රමාදය සහ නොසැලකිලිමත්කම සෘජුවම බලපා ඇති බව පවසමින්, ඊට සම්බන්ධ වගකිවයුත්තන්ට එරෙහිව වහාම නීතිය ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන ලෙස බලකර පරිසර හා සිවිල් සංවිධාන නියෝජිතයෝ පිරිසක් බත්තරමුල්ලේ පිහිටි පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශය ඉදිරිපිටදී අද (20)  විරෝධතා ව්‍යාපාරයක නිරත වූහ.

බත්තරමුල්ල ‘සොබාදම් පියස’ පරිසර අමාත්‍යාංශ පරිශ්‍රය ඉදිරිපිටට එක්රැස් වූ විරෝධතාකරුවෝ, අදාළ බලධාරීන්ගේ අකාර්යක්ෂම ක්‍රියාකලාපය දැඩි ලෙස හෙළා දකිමින් විරෝධතා පුවරු ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරමින් සටන් පාඨ හඬ නැඟූහ.

කාවන්තිස්ස හස්තියාගේ ජීවිතය බේරාගැනීමට නියමිත වේලාවට නිසි විශේෂඥ ප්‍රතිකාර හෝ අවශ්‍ය මෙහෙයුම් දියත් කිරීමට වනජීවී අංශ අපොහොසත් වූ බව විරෝධතාකරුවෝ චෝදනා කළහ. 

රෝගී තත්ත්වය උත්සන්න වී හස්තියා මරණාසන්න වන තෙක් බලා සිට අවසාන මොහොතේ සිදුකළ ප්‍රතිකාර ප්‍රමාණවත් නොවූ බවද ඔවුහු පෙන්වා දුන්හ.

Protests Erupt Over Delayed Response in Death of 'Kawantissa' Elephant

Demands for immediate legal action against those responsible have intensified following the tragic death of the 'Kawantissa' elephant. Environmental and civil society representatives rallied today (20) in front of the Ministry of Environment in Battaramulla, highlighting the negligence and delays attributed to the authorities.

Gathering at the 'Sobadam Piyasa' environmental premises, protesters expressed their discontent by displaying placards and chanting slogans that shed light on the inefficiency of the concerned officials.

Accusations were directed at the wildlife sector for inadequately executing necessary interventions or providing specialized treatment in a timely manner to save the elephant's life.

Protesters noted that the treatments administered in the final moments were insufficient, coming only after the elephant’s condition had severely deteriorated and its life was nearing an end.
