බන්ධනාගාරගත කර සිටින පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන්ට යළි චීවරය ලබා දීමට පියවර ගන්නේ නම්, බන්ධනාගාර බලධාරීන් ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් කෝට්ටේ ශ්‍රී කල්‍යාණී සාමග්‍රී ධර්ම මහා සංඝ සභාව සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කළ යුතු බව උන්වහන්සේ අවධාරණය කළ බව පිවිතුරු හෙළ උරුමයේ නායක, හිටපු පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා පවසයි.
මාධ්‍ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, බන්ධනාගාරයේ පවතින රෙගුලාසි සහ චීවරය සම්බන්ධයෙන් මතු වී ඇති ගැටලුව පිළිබඳව ඥානසාර හිමියන් තමන් ඇතුළු පාර්ශ්වයන් වෙත සිය ස්ථාවරය දැනුම් දුන් බවයි.
එහිදී ඥානසාර හිමියන්ගේ ප්‍රකාශය උපුටා දක්වමින් ගම්මන්පිල මහතා මෙසේ පැවසීය.
"බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන්ට මගේ සිවුර බලහත්කාරයෙන් ගලවන්න පුළුවන් වුණත්, ඔවුන්ට නැවත මට සිවුරු අන්දවන්න බෑ. මට නැවත සිවුරු ඇන්දවීමේ ශාසනික අයිතිය තියෙන්නේ මා අයත් සංඝ සභාවේ නායක ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේලාට පමණයි."
ඒ අනුව, උන්වහන්සේට යළි සිවුර ලබා දීමේ ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයකට එළඹෙන්නේ නම්, බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් ඒ පිළිබඳව ඥානසාර හිමියන් අයත් කෝට්ටේ ශ්‍රී කල්‍යාණී සාමග්‍රී ධර්ම මහා සංඝ සභාවේ මහානායක ස්වාමීන්ද්‍රයන් වහන්සේ ප්‍රමුඛ කාරක සංඝ සභාව සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කර තීරණයක් ගත යුතු බව උන්වහන්සේ පැහැදිලි කර ඇතැයි ගම්මන්පිල මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.
අධිකරණයට අපහාස කිරීමේ චෝදනාවට වසර 6ක සිරදඬුවම් නියමව සිටියදී, 2019 වසරේ එවක ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන්ට ලබා දුන් ජනාධිපති සමාව ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය මගින් ඒකමතිකව අහෝසි කරනු ලැබුවේ ඉකුත් සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේදීය. ඒ අනුව ඉතිරි සිරදඬුවම විඳීම සඳහා උන්වහන්සේ යළි බන්ධනාගාරගත කෙරිණි.
එහිදී බන්ධනාගාර නීතිරීතිවලට අනුව ඥානසාර හිමියන්ගේ චීවරය ඉවත් කර සිරකරු ඇඳුම ජම්පර ඇන්දවීමත් සමඟ, සංඝරත්නයේ ගෞරවය සහ විනය පිටකය කෙලෙසී ඇතැයි පවසමින් මහා සංඝරත්නය ඇතුළු බෞද්ධ සංවිධාන දැඩි විරෝධයක් මතු කළහ.
Call for Discussion on Revocation of Robes for Imprisoned Monk
The leader of the Pure Hela Urumaya and former parliamentarian, Udaya Gammanpila, has emphasized the necessity of discussions between prison authorities and the Kotuwe Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha before any decision is made regarding the reinstatement of robes to the imprisoned monk, Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero.
Speaking at a media briefing, Gammanpila revealed that the monk had communicated his stance concerning the existing regulations within the prison and the issues surrounding his robes to the relevant parties, including his own. He reiterated the monk's words, stating, "Even though prison officials may forcibly remove my robe, they are unable to re-robe me. The right to don the robe again belongs solely to the learned monks of my order."
He underscored that if steps are to be taken to return the robe to the monk, the prison officials must deliberate with the chief monks of the Kotuwe Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha to arrive at a conclusion.
Gnanasara Thero had been sentenced to six years in prison for contempt of court, a sentence that was annulled last September by the Supreme Court, which also rejected a presidential pardon granted to him by former President Maithripala Sirisena in 2019. Consequently, he has been remanded again to serve the remainder of his sentence.
This situation has sparked significant outrage from the Buddhist community and various organizations, who have raised concerns about the impact of such actions on the dignity and discipline of the Sangha, as the monk's robe was removed in accordance with prison regulations and he was made to wear standard inmate clothing.
