රටේ පවතින අධිකරණ සංඛ්යාව මෙන්ම විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ සංඛ්යාව ද ඉහළ නැංවීමේ අවශ්යතාවය පවතින බවත්, ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජය මේ වන විටත් සාකච්ඡා කරමින් සිටින බවත් ඔහු මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.
විශේෂයෙන්ම විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීම හරහා පළපුරුදු විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ සේවය තවදුරටත් ලබා ගනිමින් නඩු ප්රමාදය අවම කිරීමට අපේක්ෂා කරන බව අමාත්යවරයාගේ අදහසයි.
"අපි මේ වන විටත් අධිකරණ සංඛ්යාව සහ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ සංඛ්යාව වැඩි කිරීමට අවශ්ය පියවර ගනිමින් සිටිනවා. ඒ වගේම විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්රාම වයස යම් ප්රමාණයකින් දීර්ඝ කරලා, යුක්තිය පසිඳලීමේ ක්රියාවලිය කඩිනම් කිරීමට අවශ්ය ක්රමවේද සකස් කරනවා. මෙහි ප්රතිඵල මේ වන විටත් ලැබෙමින් පවතිනවා. නඩු විභාග කිරීමේ වේගය ඉහළ ගොස් තීන්දු ලබා දීම කඩිනම් වී තිබෙනවා," යැයි අමාත්යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.
අවංකවම රට ගැන හැඟීමක් ඇති ජනතාවට මෙය ඉතා සතුටුදායක පුවතක් වනු ඇති බවත්, යුක්තිය පසිඳලීමේ ක්රියාවලිය විධිමත් කිරීම රජයේ මූලික අරමුණ බවත් සමන්ත විද්යාරත්න මහතා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.
පවතින නීතිමය රාමුව තුළ ජනතාවට උපරිම සාධාරණයක් ඉටු කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්ය පසුබිම මේ වන විට සකස් වෙමින් පවතින බව ද ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් ප්රකාශ කළේය.
Government Moves to Extend Retirement Age for Judges to Speed Up Justice Delivery
In a bid to enhance the efficiency of the judicial system, the government is considering measures to extend the retirement age for judges, according to Minister of Justice, Samantha Vidyaratne. This initiative aims to fill the existing gaps in the judiciary and streamline the process of delivering justice.
Minister Vidyaratne made this announcement during a special media briefing, highlighting not only the existing shortage of judges but also the need to increase their numbers for a more effective legal system.
He emphasized that extending the retirement age would help retain experienced judges, thereby minimizing delays in court cases. “We are currently taking necessary steps to increase both the number of courts and judges. By extending the retirement age to some extent, we are implementing mechanisms to expedite the justice delivery process. Results of these measures are already being observed, with increased case hearing speeds and quicker rulings,” he stated.
The minister expressed optimism that this news would be well-received by the public, who are eager for a more efficient justice system. He underscored that facilitating a more streamlined judicial process remains a fundamental goal of the government.
Furthermore, he noted that a solid framework is being developed to ensure maximum fairness for the populace within the current legal structure.
