සමාජ මාධ්ය ජාලා ඔස්සේ විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන් සහ වෛද්ය වෘත්තිකයන් ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් සිදුකරනු ලබන අසත්ය, ද්වේෂසහගත සහ අපහාසාත්මක ප්රචාරයන් සම්බන්ධයෙන් විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්ගේ සංගමය (AMS) සිය දැඩි කනස්සල්ල පළ කර සිටියි.
නිර්මාණාත්මක විවේචන සහ මහජන වගවීම ප්රජාතන්ත්රවාදී සමාජයක අත්යවශ්ය අංගයන් වුවද, වෛද්යවරුන් වෙත එල්ල කරන පෞද්ගලික ප්රහාර සහ හිතාමතා සිදුකරන අපහාසාත්මක ප්රකාශ කිසිසේත් පිළිගත නොහැකි බව එම සංගමය අවධාරණය කරයි.
මෙවැනි ක්රියා මගින් අදාළ වෛද්යවරුන්ගේ වෘත්තීය ගෞරවයට හානි වනවා පමණක් නොව, රෝගීන් වෛද්යවරුන් සහ සමස්ත සෞඛ්ය පද්ධතිය කෙරෙහි තබා ඇති විශ්වාසය ද බිඳ වැටෙන බව ඔවුහු පෙන්වා දෙති.
වෛද්යවරයා සහ රෝගියා අතර පවතින සබඳතාවය අන්යෝන්ය විශ්වාසය සහ ගෞරවය මත පදනම් වූවක් බවත්, පදනම් විරහිත සමාජ මාධ්ය ප්රචාර හේතුවෙන් රෝගීන් නිසි වේලාවට වෛද්ය ප්රතිකාර ලබා ගැනීමට මැලි විය හැකි බවත්, එමගින් සෞඛ්ය සේවාවේ ගුණාත්මකභාවය සහ ආරක්ෂාව අනතුරේ වැටෙන බවත් එම සංගමය නිකුත් කළ නිවේදනයේ සඳහන් වේ.
විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්ට හෝ තම සංගමයේ සාමාජිකයන්ට අපහාස වන අයුරින් කටයුතු කරන පුද්ගලයන්ට හෝ සංවිධානවලට එරෙහිව දැඩිව ක්රියා කරන බව පවසන විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්ගේ සංගමය, තම සාමාජිකයන්ගේ අභිමානය ආරක්ෂා කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් අවශ්ය අවස්ථාවලදී නීතිමය පියවර ගැනීමට පසුබට නොවන බව ද දන්වා සිටියි.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, සෞඛ්ය සේවාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් රෝගීන්ට හෝ මහජනතාවට පවතින සාධාරණ ගැටලු නීත්යානුකූල සහ ආයතනික රාමුවක් තුළ ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට පවතින අයිතියට තම සංගමය පූර්ණ සහයෝගය ලබා දෙන බව ද එහි සඳහන් වේ. එවැනි පැමිණිලි විනිවිදභාවයකින් යුත් විධිමත් ක්රියාවලියක් හරහා විසඳා ගත යුතු බව ඔවුන්ගේ මතයයි.
තොරතුරු බෙදා හැරීමට පෙර ඒවායේ සත්ය අසත්යතාවය තහවුරු කර ගන්නා ලෙසත්, පුද්ගලයන්ට මෙන්ම රටේ සෞඛ්ය පද්ධතියට ද බරපතල ප්රතිවිපාක ගෙන දිය හැකි මෙවැනි අපහාසාත්මක ප්රචාරයන්ගෙන් වැළකී වගකීම් සහගත ලෙස සමාජ මාධ්ය භාවිතා කරන ලෙසත් විශේෂඥ වෛද්යවරුන්ගේ සංගමය මාධ්ය ආයතනවලින් සහ මහජනතාවගෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.
AMA Condemns Misinformation Targeting Medical Professionals on Social Media
The Association of Medical Specialists (AMS) has expressed serious concern over the spread of false, malicious, and derogatory narratives aimed at healthcare professionals through social media platforms. In a statement, the AMS underscored the gravity of targeted attacks on doctors, emphasizing that while constructive criticism and public accountability are essential aspects of a democratic society, personal assaults against medical practitioners are absolutely unacceptable.
These actions not only undermine the professional dignity of the concerned medical professionals but also erode the trust that patients and the public place in the healthcare system, the AMS pointed out. The association highlighted that the relationship between doctors and patients hinges on mutual trust and respect, and unsubstantiated social media narratives could deter patients from seeking timely medical care, potentially jeopardizing the quality and safety of healthcare services.
In its statement, the AMS reiterated its commitment to take robust action against individuals or organizations that engage in derogatory conduct toward its members. The association affirmed that it would not hesitate to pursue legal action when necessary to protect the dignity of its members.
However, the AMS also stated that it fully supports patients and the public in raising legitimate concerns regarding healthcare issues within a legal and institutional framework. They believe that such grievances should be resolved through transparent and organized procedures.
In closing, the AMS urged individuals to verify the accuracy of information before dissemination and to responsibly use social media, as spreading false narratives could have serious repercussions not only for individuals but also for the country's healthcare system. They are calling on media organizations and the public for greater awareness and cooperation in this regard.
