 මෝටර් රථයකින් පැමිණි පිරිසක් දෙවිනුවර ශ්‍රී විෂ්ණු දේවාලය පිටුපස පිහිටි නිවසක් ඉලක්ක කරගනිමින් වෙඩි ප්‍රහාරයක් එල්ල කර පළා ගොස් තිබේ.

මෙම වෙඩි තැබීමෙන් කිසිදු පුද්ගල හානියක් හෝ දේපළවලට බරපතළ හානි සිදුව නොමැති බව පොලිසිය තහවුරු කරයි.

මේ අතර, සංවිධානාත්මක අපරාධකරුවෙකු වන 'කංජිපානි ඉම්රාන්' විසින් කතරගම බස්නායක නිලමේවරයාට තර්ජනය කරන හඬපටයක් ද මීට සමගාමීව ප්‍රසිද්ධියට පත්ව ඇත.

මෙම තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් දෙවිනුවර ශ්‍රී විෂ්ණු දේවාලයේ බස්නායක නිලමේ තිළිණ මධුශංක මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, තමන්ට එල්ල වන තර්ජන සම්බන්ධයෙන් පොලිසියට පැමිණිලි කිරීමට පියවර ගන්නා බවයි.

මීට පෙර ද බන්ධනාගාරගතව සිටින සැකකරුවෙකු විසින් බස්නායක නිලමේවරයාගෙන් දුරකථන මාර්ගයෙන් මුදල් ඉල්ලා තර්ජනය කර ඇති බවට වලාන දූෂණ මර්දන ප්‍රහාරක බලකාය තොරතුරු අනාවරණය කරගෙන තිබිණි.

Drive-by Shooting Targets House Near Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Devalaya

A drive-by shooting occurred at a residence located behind the Sri Vishnu Devalaya in Devinuwara, perpetrated by individuals arriving in a vehicle. Following the attack, the assailants fled the scene.

Local police have confirmed that no injuries or significant property damage resulted from the gunfire, which involved a 9mm firearm. Several bullet casings were discovered lodged in the front wall of the house.

Initial investigations suggest that the attack may be linked to an ongoing dispute between two Kandy dance troupes scheduled to perform at the upcoming Devinuwara Esala Perahera. Authorities suspect this incident could stem from tensions within rival criminal gangs.

Adding to the intrigue, a voice recording suspected to belong to an organized criminal known as 'Dehibale Malli' has surfaced on social media, allegedly linked to the shooting. This recording is thought to contain threats made after the incident.

In a related matter, another audio recording has emerged featuring 'Kanjipani Imran', an organized crime figure, threatening the basnayake nilame (chief priest) of Kataragama.

In response to the alarming threats, Basnayake Nilame Thilina Madhushanka of the Devinuwara temple stated that he plans to report the threats to the police, expressing his concerns over his safety.

Prior to this, it was disclosed by the Anti-Corruption Task Force that a previously incarcerated suspect had also threatened the basnayake nilame via phone, demanding money.

The Devinuwara police continue to conduct further investigations into this troubling incident.
