පැතිර යන ඩෙංගු රෝගය හේතුවෙන් රජයේ සහ පෞද්ගලික රෝහල්වල ධාරිතාව මේ වන විට උපරිම මට්ටමට පැමිණ ඇති බව ඩෙංගු කළමනාකරණ විශේෂඥ කමිටුවේ සාමාජික, විශේෂඥ වෛද්ය ආනන්ද විජේවික්රම මහතා පවසයි.
රෝගීන් සංඛ්යාව සීඝ්රයෙන් ඉහළ යාම හේතුවෙන් ඇතැම් පෞද්ගලික රෝහල් අලුතින් රෝගීන් ඇතුළත් කර ගැනීම පවා නතර කර ඇත.
විශේෂයෙන්ම බස්නාහිර පළාතේ රෝහල්වල තත්ත්වය අතිශය දරුණු වී ඇති අතර, බොහෝ රජයේ රෝහල්වල එක් ඇඳක රෝගීන් දෙතුන් දෙනා බැගින් ප්රතිකාර ලබන තත්ත්වයක් උදා වී තිබේ.
මෙම අධික තදබදය හේතුවෙන් රෝගීන් පරීක්ෂා කිරීමේ කටයුතු මෙන්ම රෝහල් කාර්ය මණ්ඩලවල සේවාවන් ද දැඩි බාධාවන්ට ලක්ව ඇත. මීට අමතරව, වෙනත් රෝගාබාධ සඳහා ප්රතිකාර ගැනීමට පැමිණෙන රෝගීන්ට ද මෙම තත්ත්වය මත විවිධ දුෂ්කරතාවලට මුහුණ දීමට සිදුව ඇති බව වෛද්යවරයා පෙන්වා දෙයි.
පවතින දත්තවලට අනුව, මෙවර ඩෙංගු ව්යාප්තිය 2017 වසරේ වාර්තා වූ දරුණුතම තත්ත්වය ද ඉක්මවා යන ලකුණු පහළ වී ඇත. මේ වසරේ මේ දක්වා වාර්තා වී ඇති ඩෙංගු මරණ සංඛ්යාව 50 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් තිබීම විශේෂත්වයකි.
ජනතාව රෝගය පිළිබඳව සැහැල්ලුවෙන් සිතීම සහ රෝග ලක්ෂණ මතු වූ වහාම රෝහල්ගත වීමට ප්රමාද වීම මෙම මරණ සංඛ්යාව ඉහළ යාමට ප්රධාන හේතුවක් වී ඇති බව වෛද්ය විජේවික්රම මහතා අවධාරණය කළේය.
පවතින අවදානම් තත්ත්වය පාලනය කිරීම සඳහා මහජනතාවගේ උපරිම සහයෝගය අවශ්ය බවත්, වඩාත් සංවිධානාත්මකව මෙම තත්ත්වයට මුහුණ දීමට සියලු අංශ වෙත සහය ලබා දෙන ලෙසත් ඔහු ජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.
ඩෙංගු මර්දන කටයුතුවලදී වගකිවයුතු අංශවල උපදෙස් පිළිපදිමින් රෝග ව්යාප්තිය පාලනය කිරීමට කටයුතු කිරීම මේ මොහොතේ අත්යවශ්ය බව ද හෙතෙම වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.
Hospital Capacities Overwhelmed as Dengue Cases Surge in Sri Lanka
The ongoing dengue outbreak has pushed both government and private hospitals in Sri Lanka to their limits, according to Dr. Ananda Wijewickrama, a member of the specialized dengue management committee. As the number of patients continues to climb sharply, some private hospitals have even ceased admitting new patients.
The situation is particularly dire in the Western Province, where hospitals are overwhelmed. Reports indicate that many government hospitals are treating multiple patients in a single bed, often accommodating two or three individuals at a time.
This overcrowding has severely impacted patient examinations and the ability of hospital staff to provide necessary care. Furthermore, patients seeking treatment for other ailments are also facing significant challenges due to the prevailing conditions, as highlighted by the medical expert.
Current data shows that this dengue outbreak may surpass the severity seen in 2017, which was previously recorded as the most critical period. Notably, the number of reported dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 50, marking a concerning trend.
Dr. Wijewickrama emphasized that public complacency regarding the disease and delays in accessing hospital care upon the onset of symptoms have significantly contributed to the rising death toll. He urges the community to remain vigilant and prompt in seeking medical attention when symptoms arise.
To manage the existing crisis, Dr. Wijewickrama called for maximum public cooperation and urged all sectors to support organized efforts to combat this outbreak effectively. He further stressed the importance of adhering to guidelines set by responsible authorities in the dengue eradication efforts, noting that immediate action is crucial in controlling the surge of infections.
