 මහජන ආරක්ෂක සහ පාර්ලිමේන්තු කටයුතු නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් වටගල මහතාගේ නම සහ සහයෝගය පවතින බව පවසමින්, රුපියල් කෝටි දහස් ගණනක වටිනාකමක් ඇතැයි කියමින් ‘හනුමා පිළිමයක්’ අලෙවි කිරීමට උත්සාහ කළ මහා පරිමාණ ජාවාරමක ප්‍රධාන සැකකරු කොළඹ දකුණ කොට්ඨාස අපරාධ විමර්ශන අංශය මගින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන තිබේ.

මෙම ජාවාරම්කරුවන් පිරිස පවසා ඇත්තේ රන් ආලේපිත, යගදාවක් සහිත මෙම හනුමා පිළිමය එල්.ටී.ටී.ඊ. යුද සමයේ යාපනය ප්‍රදේශයේ තබාගෙන පුද පූජා පවත්වන ලද්දක් බවයි.

පසුව 2016 වසරේදී එය රහසිගතව ජා-ඇල, මෙල්වත්ත ප්‍රදේශයට රැගෙන විත් වළදමා ඇති බව පවසමින් මොවුන් ව්‍යාපාරිකයන් මුළා කර තිබේ.

ඉන්දියාවේ පූජකවරයෙකුට රුපියල් කෝටි 2500ක මුදලකට මෙම පිළිමය අලෙවි කිරීමට සැලසුම් කර ඇති බවත්, එහි නළල මත කැරට් 500ක නිල් මැණිකක් පවතින බවත් පවසමින් ජාවාරම්කරුවන් ව්‍යාපාරිකයන් ආකර්ෂණය කරගෙන ඇත.

පිළිමය ගොඩගෙන ඉන්දියාවට යැවීමේ වියදම් සඳහා රුපියල් කෝටි දෙකක මුදලක් අවශ්‍ය බව පවසමින් මොවුන් WhatsApp තාක්ෂණය ඔස්සේ ධනවත් ව්‍යාපාරිකයන්ගෙන් මුදල් ලබා ගැනීමට උත්සාහ කර තිබේ.

මෙම සමස්ත ක්‍රියාවලිය සඳහා නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් වටගල මහතාගේ පූර්ණ සහයෝගය හිමිවන බව පවසමින් ජාවාරම්කරුවන් ඔහුගේ නම අවභාවිත කර ඇත.

මේ පිළිබඳව තොරතුරු අනාවරණය වීමත් සමඟ නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා වහාම  පොලිස්පතිවරයාට සහ අපරාධ පරීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවට පැමිණිල්ලක් ඉදිරිපත් කර තිබේ.

ඒ අනුව ක්‍රියාත්මක වූ පොලිස් කණ්ඩායමක්, කොළඹ ප්‍රදේශයේදී ව්‍යාපාරිකයෙකු සමඟ ගනුදෙනුවක් කතා කරමින් සිටි ප්‍රධාන සැකකරු අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.

සැකකරු සන්තකයේ තිබූ ජංගම දුරකථනය පරීක්ෂා කිරීමේදී තවත් පුද්ගලයන් රැසකට මෙම වංචනික දර්ශන යොමු කර ඇති බව හෙළි විය.

Major Smuggling Operation Uncovered: Key Suspect Arrested in Colombo

The arrest of a main suspect linked to a massive smuggling operation has sent shockwaves through Colombo. This operation revolves around the attempted sale of a valuable 'Hanuman idol' allegedly worth millions of rupees, reportedly associated with Deputy Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Sunil Watagala.

Authorities revealed that the idol, which is gold-plated and features a unique adornment, had been kept for worship in the Jaffna region during the LTT(E) conflict, before being secretly transferred to the Ja-Ela, Melwatta area in 2016.

The suspects disclosed plans to sell the idol to a priest in India for an astounding sum of 2.5 billion rupees, with the piece adorned by a 500-carat blue sapphire, attracting several businessmen into their scheme.

In a bold move, the group sought to raise funds for transportation costs estimated at two million rupees through WhatsApp, targeting wealthy businessmen under the guise of a legal transaction.

Alarmingly, the suspects misappropriated Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala's name, claiming his full cooperation in this entire operation.

Upon learning of this illicit activity, the Deputy Minister swiftly lodged a complaint with the Inspector General of Police and the Criminal Investigation Department.

Acting on this information, a police team apprehended the primary suspect in Colombo while he was negotiating a deal with a businessman.

Further investigations revealed evidence indicating that he had been in contact with several individuals regarding these fraudulent activities, as uncovered during the examination of his mobile phone.

The arrested suspect has since been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiry.
