කෙසේ වෙතත්, ශ්රී ලංකාවට හිමිවීමට නියමිත මීළඟ ණය වාරිකය නිදහස් කිරීමට පෙර, රාජ්ය ආදායම පුළුල් කිරීමේ පියවරක් ලෙස මෙම දේපළ බද්ද බලාත්මක කළ යුතු බවට මූල්ය අරමුදල මේ වන විට අවධාරණය කර ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.
මෙම බදු ක්රමය ක්රියාත්මක කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් රජය මෙතෙක් අවසන් තීරණයක් ගෙන නොමැති වුවද, පවතින ආර්ථික වැඩපිළිවෙළ යටතේ ඒ පිළිබඳව ඉදිරියේදී තීරණාත්මක පියවරක් ගනු ඇතැයි අපේක්ෂා කෙරේ.

Amid ongoing economic challenges, discussions surrounding the implementation of a property tax in Sri Lanka have gained traction, driven by recommendations from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Sources indicate that this move aims to enhance the government's revenue from taxes.
Previously, the IMF had suggested the introduction of this tax on multiple occasions, yet both the former and current administrations have repeatedly postponed its enactment.
Recent reports suggest that the IMF is now emphasizing the need to implement the property tax as a crucial step toward broadening state revenue before the next tranche of loans designated for Sri Lanka is released.
While the government has not yet made a definitive decision regarding the enforcement of this tax scheme, expectations are high for a decisive move in the near future, considering the current economic program in place.
