බන්ධනාගාරයට ඇතුළු වන අවස්ථාවේදීම නිලධාරීන් දෙපස රැඳී සිටිමින් කේබල් වයර් සහ රබර් පයිප්පවලින් රැඳවියන්ට අමානුෂික ලෙස පහර දුන් බව ඔහු පවසයි.

ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් චෝදනා කරන්නේ, පහරදීමෙන් රැඳවියන්ගේ පිට පලා ගිය පසු, එම තුවාල මතට ලුණු දමා වධහිංසා පැමිණවීමට බන්ධනාගාර නිලධාරීන් කටයුතු කළ බවයි.

Revelations Emerge from Meegamuwa Prison Riot Amid Allegations of Inhumane Treatment

Explosive details have surfaced regarding the brutal conditions following a recent violent incident at Meegamuwa Prison. An ex-inmate has come forward to describe the appalling treatment meted out to detainees after many were transferred to the Angunakolapalessa facility following the unrest.

The individual, known as Charitha, expressed that the underlying cause of the chaos can be traced to a power struggle among prison administration and rival inmate factions. He emphasized that tensions had escalated particularly due to attempts by officials to control drug smuggling within the prison, exacerbated by confrontations with inmates affiliated with notorious gangs.

According to his account, the atmosphere inside the prison was tense in the days leading up to the riot, culminating in a group of inmates overwhelming the prison hospital and seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics.

After consuming the drugs, many inmates reportedly exhibited erratic behavior. Charitha disclosed a grim outcome, stating that approximately 31 individuals lost their lives in the ensuing clashes between inmates and prison officials.

He vividly recounted how prisoners violently dismantled steel doors during the turmoil, highlighting the sheer chaos that erupted within the facility.

In the aftermath of the riot, inmates were transferred to Angunakolapalessa Prison, where Charitha alleges they were subjected to severe brutality. He accused prison authorities of using cable wires and rubber pipes to inflict merciless beatings upon the detainees during their intake at the new facility.

Furthermore, he accused the officers of exacerbating the injuries sustained by applying salt to the wounds of those who had fled during the violence.

Illustrating the severe beatings he endured, Charitha lamented that the prison had become nothing short of a hellish nightmare.

He also brought to light instances where officers fired shots into areas occupied by inmates, recounting a specific incident involving an inmate known as Maliya, who was shot right before his eyes.
