ශ්‍රී ලංකා නීතිඥ සංගමයේ සභාපති රජීව් අමරසූරිය මහතා ඉලක්ක කරගනිමින් ආණ්ඩු පක්ෂ මන්ත්‍රී අසිත නිරෝෂණ විතානගේ මහතා පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී සිදුකළ ප්‍රකාශය දැඩි පිළිකුලෙන් යුතුව ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කරන බව එම සංගමය නිවේදනය කරයි.

නීතිඥ සංගමයේ නියෝජ්‍ය සභාපති රේන්සි අර්සකුලරත්න සහ ලේකම් නලින් ද සිල්වා යන මහත්වරුන්ගේ අත්සනින් යුතුව නිකුත් කළ නිවේදනයක දැක්වෙන්නේ, අදාළ මන්ත්‍රීවරයාගේ චෝදනා සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අසත්‍ය, පදනම් විරහිත සහ ද්වේෂසහගත චේතනාවෙන් සිදුකරන ලද ඒවා බවයි.

මහජනතාව නොමඟ යැවීම සඳහා පාර්ලිමේන්තු වරප්‍රසාද අනිසි ලෙස භාවිතා කරමින් සිදුකරන මෙවැනි අපහාසාත්මක ප්‍රකාශ පිළිබඳව සංගමය සිය දැඩි කනස්සල්ල පළ කර සිටියි.

නීතිඥ සංගමය අදාළ මන්ත්‍රීවරයාට අභියෝග කර සිටින්නේ, පාර්ලිමේන්තු වරප්‍රසාදවලට මුවා නොවී මෙම අසත්‍ය ප්‍රකාශය පාර්ලිමේන්තුවෙන් පිටතදී සිදුකරන ලෙසයි. එවිට ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් නීතිමය පියවර ගැනීමට තමන් සූදානම් බව ද එම නිවේදනයේ සඳහන් වේ.

නීතිඥ සංගමය සිය ඉතිහාසය පුරාම ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය, අධිකරණයේ ස්වාධීනත්වය සහ මානව හිමිකම් වෙනුවෙන් පෙනී සිට ඇති බවත්, බලයේ සිටින ආණ්ඩුව කුමක් වුවත් නිර්භීතව සිය හඬ අවදි කර ඇති බවත් පවසන එම සංගමය, නීතිඥ ප්‍රජාව දේශපාලන අරමුණු වෙනුවෙන් කටයුතු නොකරන බව ද වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කර සිටියි.

ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණ සහ අභියාචනාධිකරණ විනිසුරුවරුන්ගේ විශ්‍රාම වයස දීර්ඝ කිරීමේ යෝජනාව සම්බන්ධයෙන් ද නීතිඥ සංගමය මෙහිදී සිය ස්ථාවරය යළිත් අවධාරණය කර ඇත. එවැනි ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධන හදිසි අවශ්‍යතා මත හෝ තාවකාලික තත්ත්වයන් මත පදනම්ව 'අහඹු' ලෙස සිදු නොකළ යුතු බව සංගමයේ ස්ථාවරයයි.

ආයතනික අවශ්‍යතාවය, විනිවිදභාවයකින් යුත් සාධාරණීකරණය සහ පුළුල් පාර්ශවකරුවන්ගේ උපදේශනයකින් තොරව මෙවැනි සංශෝධන සිදු කිරීම ව්‍යවස්ථාපිත පාලනය කෙරෙහි පවතින මහජන විශ්වාසයට බාධාවක් බව නීතිඥ සංගමය පෙන්වා දෙයි.

Lawyers’ Association Condemns Allegations Made by MP Asitha Nirushan

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has issued a strong statement rejecting remarks made by ruling party MP Asitha Nirushan Vithanage, specifically targeting association President Rajiv Amerasinghe. The association denounced the MP's comments as completely false and baseless, describing them as driven by malice.

Signed by Deputy President Renshi Arsakularatne and Secretary Nalin De Silva, the statement expressed serious concern over the MP's misuse of parliamentary privileges to make disparaging remarks, which could mislead the public.

The association challenged Vithanage to voice his accusations outside of Parliament, emphasizing a readiness to take legal action based on those statements. The alert shows the association’s commitment to integrity and accountability, especially regarding public discourse.

Throughout its history, the Bar Association has staunchly defended democracy, judicial independence, and human rights, maintaining that it will continue to raise its voice fearlessly against any government, irrespective of its party affiliations. The statement reiterated the legal community's pledge to remain apolitical and not to act in service of political agendas.

Additionally, the association reaffirmed its stance on proposed amendments to extend the retirement age for Supreme Court and Appeals Court judges. It cautioned against rushed or arbitrary constitutional changes based on urgent necessities or temporary circumstances.

The association highlighted that any amendments should be grounded in institutional need, transparency, and comprehensive consultations with multiple stakeholders, stressing that this is crucial to maintaining public trust in constitutional governance.
