ඉරාන ධජය සහිත ඉන්ධන ප්රවාහන නෞකා 13ක් ඇතුළු තවත් යාත්රා කිහිපයක් මෙලෙස ශ්රී ලංකාවට ආසන්න මුහුදේ රැඳී සිටින බව 'ෆයිනෑන්ෂල් ටයිම්ස්' පුවත්පත වාර්තා කර තිබේ.
ටෑන්ක්ට්රැකර්ස් ප්රකාශ කර ඇත්තේ, මෙම නෞකා බොහොමයක් නැවත ඉරානයට ඇතුළු වී ඉන්ධන ලබාගැනීමේ අපේක්ෂාවෙන් පසුවන බවයි.

අදාළ නෞකා පිළිබඳව ශ්රී ලංකාව දැනුවත් වුවද, ඒවා නැංගුරම් ලා ඇත්තේ මෙරට සුවිශේෂී ආර්ථික කලාප සීමාවෙන් බැහැරව බැවින්, එම නෞකා සම්බන්ධයෙන් ශ්රී ලංකාවට කිසිදු වගකීමක් හෝ බැඳීමක් නොමැති බව අමාත්යාංශය අවධාරණය කරයි. එමෙන්ම එම නෞකා සඳහා ශ්රී ලංකාව කිසිදු පහසුකමක් සපයන්නේ නැති බවද රජය පවසයි.
පසුගිය මාස හයක කාලය තුළ ඇමෙරිකානු නාවික හමුදාව විසින් ඉරාන නෞකා 20කට වැඩි ප්රමාණයකට ප්රහාර එල්ල කර ඇති අතර, ඉරාන වරායන් වෙත ගමන් කළ වෙළඳ නෞකා 75කට අධික සංඛ්යාවක් ආපසු හරවා යවා ඇති බව දත්ත වාර්තා පෙන්වා දෙයි.

Iranian Oil Tankers Seek Refuge Near Sri Lanka Amid US Naval Restrictions
Reports from international media suggest that approximately 20 Iranian oil tankers are anchored in Sri Lanka's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), driven by heightened security concerns and stringent controls imposed by the United States Navy in the region.
Among these vessels, there are 13 with the Iranian flag, along with several other ships, reportedly lingering in the waters close to Sri Lanka, according to the Financial Times.
Tracking data indicates that many of these tankers aim to return to Iran for refueling, yet they remain in the area due to fears of potential attacks.
Amid these developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sri Lanka has clarified its position regarding the presence of these vessels. While the Sri Lankan government is aware of the tankers, it has emphasized that they are located outside the designated limits of the country's Exclusive Economic Zone. Consequently, Sri Lanka has no responsibility or obligation concerning these vessels and will not be providing any facilities for them.
In the past six months, over 20 Iranian tankers have reportedly faced assaults from the US Navy, with data indicating that more than 75 commercial vessels heading towards Iranian ports have been redirected.
This ongoing situation has led to the Iranian tankers remaining in maritime zones near Sri Lanka and Pakistan as a precaution, as revealed by maritime trade data.
