මෙරට සංචාරයක නිරතව සිටි ඉන්දියාවේ හයිද්රාබාද් ප්රාන්තයේ මන්ත්රීවරයෙකු ඇතුළු පිරිසකට සහ ඔවුන් ගමන් ගත් වෑන් රථයට වැලිගම ප්රදේශයේදී පහර දුන් බව කියන සැකකරුවෙකු අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ඇත.
ඉන්දියාවේ හයිද්රාබාද් ප්රාන්තයේ මන්ත්රීවරයෙකු ඇතුළු පිරිසක් මෙරට සංචාරයක් සඳහා පසුගිය 03 වැනිදා දිවයිනට පැමිණ ඇත.
ඔවුන් කුලී පදනම මත ලබාගත් වෑන් රථයකින් විවිධ ප්රදේශවල සංචාරය කරමින් සිට ඇති අතර, පසුගිය 06 වැනිදා වැලිගම ප්රදේශයේ ප්රසිද්ධ සංචාරක හෝටලයක නවාතැන් ගෙන තිබේ.
මෙම පහරදීම සිදුව ඇත්තේ 07 වැනිදා පස්වරුවේදීය. අදාළ පිරිස වැලිගම ප්රදේශයේ වෙනත් හෝටලයකට ගොස් නැවත තමන් නවාතැන් ගෙන සිටි හෝටලය වෙත වෑන් රථයෙන් පැමිණෙමින් සිටියදී, ගාල්ල - මාතර ප්රධාන මාර්ගයේ වැලිගම පැලෑන වටරවුම ආසන්නයේදී ලොරි රථයක් හේතුවෙන් මාර්ගය අවහිර වී තිබේ.
එම අවස්ථාවේදී වෑන් රථය නතර කර තිබියදී යතුරුපැදියකින් පැමිණි පුද්ගලයෙකු වෑන් රථයේ බඳ කොටසට පහර දී ඇත.
එහිදී වෑන් රථයේ සිටි මන්ත්රීවරයා ඇතුළු පිරිස රථයෙන් බැස ඒ පිළිබඳව විමසීමට උත්සාහ කළ අවස්ථාවේදී, සැකකරු විසින් සිය ආරක්ෂක හිස්වැසුමෙන් සහ යකඩ පොල්ලකින් ඔවුන්ට පහර දී ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.
සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් ඉන්දීය ජාතිකයන් පිරිස වැලිගම මූලස්ථාන පොලිසිය වෙත පැමිණිලි කර ඇති අතර, ඒ අනුව විමර්ශන ආරම්භ කළ පොලිසිය සැකකරු අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට මෙහෙයුම් දියත් කර තිබිණි.
පොලිස් පරීක්ෂණ හමුවේ (08) සැකකරු නීතිඥයෙකු මාර්ගයෙන් පොලිසිය වෙත භාර වී ඇත.
අත්අඩංගුවට ගත් සැකකරු මිරිස්ස ප්රදේශයේ පදිංචි 33 හැවිරිදි ධීවරයෙකු බව වැලිගම පොලිසිය තහවුරු කර තිබේ. සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් වැඩිදුර විමර්ශන ක්රියාත්මකය.
Indian Legislator's Group Attacked During Sri Lanka Visit
A suspect has been apprehended in connection with an attack on a group that included an Indian legislator visiting from Hyderabad. The incident occurred while they were traveling in a rented van in the Weligama area.
The group, which arrived in Sri Lanka on October 3, was touring various locations in the country using a hired van. They had checked into a well-known tourist hotel in Weligama on October 6.
The assault took place in the late afternoon on October 7. While traveling back to their hotel from another hotel in Weligama, the van was stopped near the Weligama-Palena roundabout due to an obstruction caused by a truck on the Galle-Matara main road.
During this halt, an individual on a motorcycle approached and struck the van. When the group, including the legislator, exited the vehicle to inquire about the attack, the assailant reportedly struck them with a helmet and a metal rod.
In response to the attack, the Indian nationals reported the incident to the Weligama base police, which promptly initiated an investigation. Following this, operations were launched to apprehend the suspect.
On October 8, the suspect surrendered to the police along with an attorney. Authorities confirmed that the arrested individual is a 33-year-old fisherman residing in the Mirissa area. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
