Opposition Leaders Criticized for Ignoring Public Issues, Says Government MP

Government Parliamentarian Aruna Panagoda has expressed concern over the lack of engagement from opposition leaders regarding the real problems faced by the public. He emphasized that, on any given day, there seems to be no discussion from the opposition on issues affecting the citizens.

Panagoda pointed out that the opposition is primarily focusing on prison-related disputes, suggesting that their political power is derived from these issues. He proposed that the opposition's motivations may be more about political maneuvering than genuine concern for public welfare.

Highlighting the effective management of prison operations, he noted that there is no need for the Minister of Justice to resign, reinforcing his confidence in the current administrative efforts within the penal system.
