තමන්ට මේ වන විට කිසිදු ස්ථාවර ආදායම් මාර්ගයක් නොමැති බවත්, තමන් ජීවත් වන්නේ මිතුරන්ගේ සහ පවුලේ උදවියගේ සහයෝගයෙන් බවත් හිටපු අමාත්‍ය රාජිත සේනාරත්න මහතා පවසයි.

නාලිකාවක් සමග වූ සාකච්ඡාවකදී සිය වර්තමාන මූල්‍ය තත්ත්වය පිළිබඳව අදහස් දක්වමින් ඔහු කියා සිටියේ, තමන් දැනට භාවිතා කරන වාහනය මිතුරෙකු විසින් ලබා දුන් එකක් බවත්, පදිංචිව සිටින නිවසේ කුලිය පවා ගෙවනු ලබන්නේ සිය හිතවතෙකු විසින් බවත්ය.

දේශපාලනයට පිවිසීමට පෙර තමන් මෙරට සිටි ඉතා සාර්ථක දන්ත වෛද්‍යවරයෙකු බව සිහිපත් කළ සේනාරත්න මහතා, එකල 'මිස් ශ්‍රී ලංකා' තරඟකාරියන්, ප්‍රකට නළු නිළියන් ඇතුළු විශාල පිරිසක් තමන්ගෙන් ප්‍රතිකාර ලබාගත් බවත්, එමගින් තමන් ඉතා ඉහළ ආදායමක් ඉපයූ බවත් සඳහන් කළේය.

දේශපාලනයට පිවිසීමත් සමඟ එම සියලු ආදායම් මාර්ග අහිමි කරගත් බව ඔහු පෙන්වා දෙයි.

"මට දැන් සත පහක ආදායමක් නෑ. මගේ බිරිඳ විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍යවරියක් නිසා ඇයට ලැබෙන විශ්‍රාම වැටුප තියෙනවා. ඒ වගේම මගේ ආච්චි අම්මාගෙන් ලැබුණු කුඩා වත්තක් තියෙනවා, ඒකෙන් යම් ආදායමක් ලැබෙනවා. අපි ජීවත් වෙන්න ඒක ඇති වුණත්, දේශපාලනය කරන්න ඒ මුදල් මදි. මගේ වාහනයට පෙට්‍රල් ගහන්නෙත්, ගෙවල් කුලී ගෙවන්නෙත් මගේ හිතවතුන්" යැයි ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.

1989 වසරේදී විජය කුමාරතුංග මහතාගේ අභාවයෙන් පසු පක්ෂයේ වගකීම් භාර ගැනීම සඳහා තමන් රජයේ රැකියාවෙන් ඉවත් වූ බවත්, එතැන් සිට දේශපාලනය වෙනුවෙන් තමන් විශාල මූල්‍යමය සහ පෞද්ගලික කැපකිරීමක් කර ඇති බවත් හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී අවධාරණය කළේය.

තමන් මහජන මුදල් සොරකම් කර නොමැති බවත්, දේශපාලනයට පැමිණීම නිසා තමන්ට සිදු වූයේ විශාල පාඩුවක් බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Former Minister Rajitha Senaratne Opens Up About Financial Struggles

Rajitha Senaratne, a former minister in the Sri Lankan government, has revealed that he currently has no stable source of income and relies heavily on the support of friends and family to sustain his livelihood. In a candid interview with a local television channel, Senaratne shed light on his financial predicament, explaining that the vehicle he uses was lent to him by a friend and that he relies on another friend to pay the rent for his residence.

Recalling his earlier life before entering politics, Senaratne highlighted his successful career as a dentist in Sri Lanka. He noted that numerous individuals, including beauty pageant contestants and popular actors, sought his dental services during that time, allowing him to generate a substantial income.

However, he pointed out that upon entering the political arena, he lost all those lucrative income streams. "I currently have no income at all. My wife, who is a specialist doctor, receives a pension, and we have a small piece of land given by my grandmother that provides some income. While that helps us to live, it is not sufficient for political activities. My friends are the ones fueling my car and helping with the house rent," he explained further.

Senaratne also revealed that he resigned from his government job in 1989 to take on responsibilities within his party following the death of former president Vijay Kumaratunga. Since then, he has made significant financial and personal sacrifices for political engagements.

He firmly stated that he has not committed any financial misconduct and asserted that his entry into politics has resulted in considerable losses for him. "I have not stolen public funds. Joining politics has caused me a massive setback," he emphasized.
