 මෙරට ඉන්ධන බෙදාහැරීමේ කටයුතුවල නිරත ප්‍රධාන විදේශීය සමාගමක්, පසුගිය දින කිහිපය පුරා ඔවුන්ට අයත් ඉන්ධනහල් වෙත 95 ඔක්ටේන් පෙට්‍රල් සහ ඩීසල් සැපයීම සීමා කර ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.

ඉන්ධනහල් හිමියන්ගේ සංගමයේ සභාපති ෂෙල්ටන් ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා පවසන පරිදි, පවතින මිල ගණන් යටතේ ඉන්ධන අලෙවි කිරීමෙන් සිදුවන පාඩුව දරාගත නොහැකි වීම මෙම සැපයුම් සීමා කිරීමට ප්‍රධාන හේතුව වී තිබේ.

කොළඹ ඇතුළු ප්‍රධාන නගර කේන්ද්‍ර කරගනිමින් දිවයින පුරා ඉන්ධනහල් 160ක් පමණ පවත්වාගෙන යන මෙම සමාගම, ඉන්ධනහල් මගින් ඉල්ලුම් කරන ප්‍රමාණයට ඩීසල් ලබා නොදෙන බවට ද චෝදනා එල්ල වේ.

මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අදාළ සමාගමේ බලධාරීන් සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කළ ද මෙතෙක් සාර්ථක විසඳුමක් ලැබී නොමැති බව ප්‍රනාන්දු මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

මේ අතර, ලංකා ඛනිජ තෙල් නීතිගත සංස්ථාව පාඩු ලබමින් වුවද අඛණ්ඩව ඉන්ධන සැපයුම පවත්වාගෙන යන බවත්, විදේශීය සමාගම් මෙලෙස සැපයුම සීමා කිරීම හේතුවෙන් සංස්ථාවට දැරීමට සිදුවන පාඩුව තවදුරටත් ඉහළ යා හැකි බවත් පෙන්වා දී ඇත.

මේ පිළිබඳව ඛනිජ තෙල් සංස්ථාවේ කළමනාකාර අධ්‍යක්ෂ මයුර නෙත්තිකුමාර මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේ, සංස්ථාවට ලැබෙන ඉල්ලීම් අනුව සැපයුම් සිදු කළ ද පෞද්ගලික සමාගම්වල අභ්‍යන්තර තීරණ සම්බන්ධයෙන් මැදිහත් වීමට තමන්ට හැකියාවක් නොමැති බවයි.

අදාළ විදේශීය සමාගම සමඟ ගිවිසුම්ගතව සිටින ඉන්ධනහල් හිමියන් මේ වන විට දැඩි අසීරුතාවකට පත්ව සිටින්නේ, පවතින නීතිමය ගිවිසුම් හේතුවෙන් වෙනත් සමාගමකින් ඉන්ධන ලබා ගැනීමට ඔවුන්ට අවස්ථාව නොමැති බැවිනි. නිසි ලෙස ඉන්ධන තොග නොලැබීම හේතුවෙන් එම ඉන්ධනහල් පවත්වාගෙන යාම ද අර්බුදයකට ලක්ව ඇති බව වාර්තා වේ.

Fuel Supply to Sri Lankan Filling Stations Restricted Amid Financial Concerns

A major foreign company involved in fuel distribution in Sri Lanka has reportedly restricted the supply of 95 octane petrol and diesel to its filling stations over the past few days. This move has raised significant concerns among fuel station owners and operators across the island.

According to Shelton Pranando, the president of the Fuel Station Owners Association, the main reason for this supply limitation is the inability to sustain losses incurred from selling fuel at current pricing levels. He emphasized that continuing under these conditions is no longer feasible.

The company, which oversees approximately 160 filling stations primarily located in major urban centers such as Colombo, has faced accusations of not providing sufficient diesel to meet the demands of its stations. This restriction is especially troubling as it leaves many filling stations struggling to operate effectively.

Pranando further noted that discussions with the company's officials have yet to yield a successful resolution to the situation, indicating the challenges faced by fuel station proprietors in securing necessary resources for their businesses.

Meanwhile, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation continues to supply fuel amidst losses, highlighting that the supply restrictions imposed by foreign entities could exacerbate its financial challenges. Concerns have been raised about the potential fallout from these ongoing limitations.

Mayura Neththikumar, the managing director of the petroleum corporation, stated that while they are fulfilling supply requests based on demand, they have no power to intervene in the internal decisions of private companies regarding fuel distribution.

Filling station owners with contracts tied to the foreign company are experiencing severe difficulties due to the existing legal agreements that prevent them from sourcing fuel from alternative providers. Reports suggest that the lack of adequate fuel supplies is pushing many of these stations to the brink of crisis.
