බන්ධනාගාර අධිකාරීවරයා සඳහන් කළේ සිද්ධියෙන් බන්ධනාගාර දේපළවලට දැඩි හානි සිදුව ඇති අතර, තුවාල ලැබූ රැඳවියන් රෝහල්ගත කිරීමට පියවර ගත් බවයි.

නොසන්සුන්තාවයට සම්බන්ධ බවට සැක කෙරෙන රැඳවියන් 104 දෙනෙකු ආරක්ෂක හේතූන් මත වෙනත් බන්ධනාගාර වෙත මාරු කර යවා ඇති අතර, ඔවුන් මාරු කර යැවූ බන්ධනාගාර පිළිබඳ තොරතුරු ද ප්රධාන දොරටුව අසල ප්රදර්ශනය කර ඇති බව අධිකාරීවරයා පැවසීය.
සෙසු රැඳවියන් මේ වන විට ඔවුන්ගේ සිර මැදිරි තුළ සාමකාමීව පසුවන අතර, ඔවුන්ට අවශ්ය ආහාර පාන වෙනත් බන්ධනාගාරවල සහාය ඇතිව ලබා දීමට කටයුතු කර ඇත.
කෙසේ වෙතත්, සිදුව ඇති දේපළ හානි පිළිසකර කිරීමේ කටයුතු හේතුවෙන් හෙට සිට දින තුනක කාලයක් අමුත්තන් බැලීම තාවකාලිකව අත්හිටුවීමට බන්ධනාගාර බලධාරීන් තීරණය කර තිබේ.
ඒ අනුව ලබන බ්රහස්පතින්දා සිට නැවත සුපුරුදු පරිදි අමුත්තන් බැලීමේ අවස්ථාව ඥාතීන්ට හිමිවන බව රෝහණ ගලප්පත්ති මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.
අද දින මහේස්ත්රාත්වරිය බන්ධනාගාර පරිශ්රයේ නිරීක්ෂණ චාරිකාවක නිරත වූ අතර, සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් විවිධ අංශ ඔස්සේ පුළුල් විමර්ශන අඛණ්ඩව ක්රියාත්මක වේ.
Calm Restored at Mahara Prison Following Disturbance
Authorities have confirmed that the unrest at Mahara Prison has been completely brought under control, with its daily operations returning to normal, as reported by Superintendent Rohana Galappaththi.
The superintendent noted that the incident caused significant damage to prison property and that action has been taken to hospitalize injured inmates.
A list of the hospitalized inmates has been displayed near the main entrance of the prison for transparency.
In a proactive security measure, 104 inmates suspected of involvement in the disturbance have been transferred to other correctional facilities. Information regarding the prisons to which they were transferred has also been made available at the entrance.
Remaining inmates are now settling back into their cells peacefully, with provisions for food and drink being ensured through support from other facilities.
However, due to the ongoing assessment of property damage, prison officials have decided to temporarily suspend visitation for three days starting tomorrow. Superintendent Galappaththi stated that the opportunity for visits will resume for relatives following the three-day period, beginning Thursday.
Today, a magistrate conducted an inspection of the prison premises, while comprehensive investigations involving various departments are ongoing regarding the incident.
