 මෙරටට බොර පොල්තෙල් ආනයනය කරනු ලබන ප්‍රධාන සමාගම් හතරෙන් නිසි පරිදි බදු ගෙවනු ලබන්නේ එක් සමාගමක් පමණක් බවත්, ඉතිරි සමාගම් තුනම බදු පැහැර හැර ඇති බවත් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය නිශාන්ත ජයවීර මහතා අද (06) පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේදී අනාවරණය කළේය.

පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී එස්.එම්. මරික්කාර් මහතා යොමු කළ වාචික ප්‍රශ්නයකට පිළිතුරු දෙමින් නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මේ බව සඳහන් කළේය.

බදු පැහැර හැර ඇති සමාගම්වලින් එම හිඟ බදු අය කරගැනීමේ ක්‍රියාවලිය මේ වන විට ප්‍රමාද වී ඇති බවත්, ඊට ප්‍රධානතම හේතුව වී ඇත්තේ අදාළ සමාගම් විසින් එම බදු මුදල් සම්බන්ධයෙන් අභියාචනා ඉදිරිපත් කර තිබීම බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පැහැදිලි කළේය.

එම අභියාචනා ක්‍රියාවලිය හේතුවෙන් රජයට ලැබිය යුතු බදු ආදායම් ලබා ගැනීම බාධාවක් වී ඇති බව ද නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍යවරයා මෙහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

Only One Out of Four Major Coconut Oil Importers Complies with Tax Payments

In a startling revelation, Deputy Minister Nishantha Jayweera announced in Parliament today that only one out of the four leading companies importing coconut oil into Sri Lanka is paying taxes correctly, while the remaining three are evading their tax obligations.

This disclosure came in response to a verbal question posed by Parliament Member S.M. Marikkar, highlighting significant tax compliance issues within the industry.

The Deputy Minister further explained that the tax collection process from these non-compliant companies has been delayed. The primary reason cited for this setback is the appeals filed by the companies regarding the tax amounts due.

Jayweera underscored that this ongoing appeal process has obstructed the government's ability to secure the tax revenues it is entitled to, raising concerns over the financial implications for state resources.
