Sri Lankan athlete Rumesha Taranga clinched first place in the men's javelin throw at the Diamond League meet held in the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, today (22).

Demonstrating exceptional skill, Taranga launched the javelin to a remarkable distance of 88.14 meters, showcasing his talent among a host of world-class competitors.

Notably, this victory comes with the significant achievement of defeating reigning world champion Neeraj Chopra from India, who finished in second place. Grenada's Anderson Peters secured the third spot in a competitive field.
