ඉන්ධන භාවිතයෙන් විදුලිය උත්පාදනය කිරීමේදී වැයවන පිරිවැය පිළිබඳව Electricity Generation Lanka පුද්ගලික සමාගම ඉදිරිපත් කර ඇති දත්තවල නිරවද්‍යතාවය පරීක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා පරීක්ෂණයක් පැවැත්වීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහජන උපයෝගිතා කොමිෂන් සභාව තීරණය කර ඇති බව The Sunday Times පුවත්පත වාර්තා කරයි.

වාර්තාවට අනුව, රජයට අයත් මෙම සමාගම විදුලි උත්පාදනය සඳහා වැයවන ඉන්ධන පිරිවැය සැබෑ අගයට වඩා වැඩිකර පෙන්වන බවට ලැබී ඇති තොරතුරු මත පදනම්ව මෙම විමර්ශනය ආරම්භ කර ඇත.

මෙලෙස වැරදි දත්ත ඉදිරිපත් කිරීම හේතුවෙන් විදුලි ඒකකයක් නිෂ්පාදනය කිරීම සඳහා වැයවන සැබෑ පිරිවැය නිවැරදිව ගණනය කිරීමට කොමිෂන් සභාවට බාධා එල්ල වී ඇති බව සඳහන් වේ.

විදුලි ගාස්තු තීරණය කිරීමේදී ඉන්ධන මිල සහ පිරිවැය බලපාන ආකාරය පිළිබඳව විධිමත් ලෙස කරුණු විමසීම මෙම මහජන පරීක්ෂණයේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණයි.

මීට අමතරව, තාප විදුලි බලාගාර සඳහා ඉන්ධන සැපයීමේ ගිවිසුම් ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීමේදී මතුව ඇති අනෙකුත් ගැටලු පිළිබඳවද මෙහිදී අවධානය යොමු කෙරෙනු ඇත.

මෙම පරීක්ෂණය ලබන සැප්තැම්බර් 04 වැනිදා ආරම්භ වීමට නියමිත අතර, ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් ලිඛිත කරුණු ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට හෝ එදිනට වාචිකව සාක්ෂි ලබා දීමට හැකියාව පවතින බව මහජන උපයෝගිතා කොමිෂන් සභාව දැනුම් දී තිබේ. ඉදිරිපත් වන සාක්ෂි මත පදනම්ව අදාළ පාර්ශවයන් කැඳවීමටද කොමිසම තීරණය කරනු ඇත.

Inquiry Launched into Fuel Cost Discrepancies by Electricity Generation Lanka

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) has initiated an investigation to verify the accuracy of data presented by the private company Electricity Generation Lanka regarding the expenses incurred in generating electricity using fuel, as reported by The Sunday Times.

According to the report, the commission's inquiry was prompted by evidence suggesting that the state-owned company has been overstating fuel costs for electricity generation beyond their actual values. This misrepresentation is said to hinder the commission's ability to accurately calculate the true expenses associated with producing one unit of electricity.

The primary objective of this public inquiry is to systematically examine how fuel prices and expenditures impact the determination of electricity tariffs.

Additionally, the investigation will also focus on other issues that have emerged during the implementation of fuel supply agreements for thermal power plants.

Set to commence on September 4, the PUCSL has invited stakeholders to either submit written evidence or provide oral testimonies on that date. Based on the findings presented, the commission will decide on summoning relevant parties for further scrutiny.
