 2019 පාස්කු ඉරිදා එල්ල වූ ම්ලේච්ඡ මරාගෙන මැරෙන ත්‍රස්ත ප්‍රහාර මාලාව සඳහා ආධාර අනුබල දීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් වරදකරුවන් වූ මවුලවිවරුන් ඇතුළු විත්තිකරුවන් 15 දෙනෙකුට වසර 220 බැගින් වූ බරපතළ වැඩ සහිත සිරදඬුවම් කොළඹ ස්ථිර ත්‍රිපුද්ගල මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල විසින් අද නියම කරන ලදී.

එමෙන්ම වරදකරුවන් වූ එම විත්තිකරුවන්ගේ සියලු චංචල සහ නිශ්චල දේපළ තහනම් කරන ලෙස ද ත්‍රිපුද්ගල මහාධිකරණය නියෝග කළේය.

නඩුවේ චෝදනා ලබා සිටි සෙසු විත්තිකරුවන් නවදෙනා නිදොස් කොට මුදාහැරීමට විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල පියවර ගත්තේය.

ත්‍රිපුද්ගල විනිසුරු මඩුල්ලක් හමුවේ මෙම නඩු විභාගය පැවැත්විණි.

එහිදී විත්තිකරුවන් 15 දෙනාට එරෙහිව එල්ල කර තිබූ චෝදනා සාධාරණ සැකයකින් තොරව පැමිණිල්ල විසින් ඔප්පු කර ඇති බව තීරණය කළ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල මෙම දඬුවම් නියම කිරීම සිදු කළේය.

ආගම් අතර අන්තවාදී, ජාතිවාදී හෝ එදිරිවාදී හැඟීම් ඇති කිරීමේ කුමන්ත්‍රණයකට අනුව ක්‍රියාත්මක වෙමින්, කොච්චිකඩේ ශාන්ත අන්තෝනි දේවස්ථානය, මීගමුව කටුවාපිටිය ශාන්ත සෙබස්තියන් දේවස්ථානය, මඩකලපුව සියොන් දේවස්ථානය මෙන්ම කොළඹ කිංස්බරි, ෂැංග්‍රිලා, සිනමන් ග්‍රෑන්ඩ් සහ දෙහිවල නිව් ට්‍රොපිකල් ඉන් යන හෝටල් තුළ මරාගෙන මැරෙන බෝම්බ පුපුරුවා හැරීමට කුමන්ත්‍රණය කිරීම හා ආධාර අනුබල දීම මොවුන්ට එරෙහිව එල්ල වූ ප්‍රධාන චෝදනාවයි.

මෙම අමානුෂික අපරාධය හේතුවෙන් විදේශීය සංචාරකයන් 40 දෙනෙකු සහ කුඩා දරුවන් 35 දෙනෙකු ඇතුළුව පුද්ගලයන් 263 දෙනෙකු ඝාතනයට ලක්වූ අතර, තවත් පුද්ගලයන් 526 දෙනෙකුට බරපතළ තුවාල සිදුකර ඔවුන් ඝාතනය කිරීමට තැත් කර තිබූ බව අධිකරණයේදී හෙළි විය.

Colombo Court Sentences 15 to 220 Years for 2019 Easter Sunday Terror Attacks

A Colombo Special High Court has handed down a staggering 220-year sentence to 15 individuals, including several who were found guilty of colluding with extremist attackers involved in the deadly 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. This brutal series of terrorist attacks claimed the lives of 263 people, including 40 foreign tourists and 35 children.

Additionally, the court has ruled that all movable and immovable properties belonging to these convicts be confiscated. The proceedings included the release of nine other suspects who were acquitted of all charges due to insufficient evidence against them.

The case was presided over by a panel of High Court judges, who concluded that the evidence presented by the prosecution was compelling and devoid of reasonable doubt regarding the culpability of the accused.

According to the charges, the accused were involved in planning and facilitating the bombings at several iconic locations including the St. Anthony's Shrine in Kochchikade, St. Sebastian's Church in Negombo, Zion Church in Batticaloa, and various luxury hotels such as Kingsbury, Shangri-La, Cinnamon Grand, and New Tropical Inn in Dehiwala.

This heinous act not only targeted eight places of worship and communal spaces but also served to incite communal, nationalist, and anti-minority sentiments. The court revealed that the assaults were meticulously orchestrated, resulting in severe injuries to an additional 526 individuals as the perpetrators sought to maximize the devastation.
