 2019 වසරේ එල්ල වූ පාස්කු ඉරිදා මරාගෙන මැරෙන ත්‍රස්ත ප්‍රහාර මාලාවට අදාළ නඩුවේ විත්තිකරුවන් 24 දෙනා අතුරින් 15 දෙනෙකු එම චෝදනාවලට වරදකරුවන් බවට කොළඹ ත්‍රිපුද්ගල විශේෂ මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල අද තීන්දු කළේය.

නඩුවේ සෙසු විත්තිකරුවන් 9 දෙනා සියලු චෝදනාවලින් නිදොස් කොට නිදහස් කිරීමට අධිකරණය නියෝග කර තිබේ.

කොළඹ ඇතුළු ප්‍රදේශ කිහිපයක ප්‍රධාන පෙළේ සංචාරක හෝටල්, කිතුනු දේවස්ථාන ඇතුළු ස්ථාන ඉලක්ක කර ගනිමින් මරාගෙන මැරෙන ත්‍රස්ත ප්‍රහාර එල්ල කිරීමට කුමන්ත්‍රණය කිරීම, ඊට ආධාර අනුබල දීම ඇතුළු චෝදනා 23,270ක් යටතේ නීතිපතිවරයා විසින් මෙම විත්තිකරුවන්ට එරෙහිව නඩු පවරා තිබිණි.

නවරත්න මාරසිංහ, රාමනාදන් කන්නන් සහ සුජීව නිශ්ශංක යන මහත්වරුන්ගෙන් සමන්විත ත්‍රිපුද්ගල මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල හමුවේ මෙම නඩු විභාගය පැවැත්විණි.

වසර පහකට ආසන්න කාලයක් පුරා පැවති දීර්ඝ නඩු විභාගය පසුගිය අගෝස්තු 24 වන දින අවසන් කෙරුණු අතර, අද දින මෙම තීන්දුව ප්‍රකාශයට පත් කෙරිණි.

Colombo Court Sentences 15 Individuals for 2019 Easter Sunday Terror Attacks

In a landmark decision today, the Colombo High Court found 15 out of 24 defendants guilty for their involvement in the devastating Easter Sunday attacks of 2019. This series of coordinated bombings targeted multiple locations, including prominent tourist hotels and places of worship within Colombo and surrounding areas.

The court emphasized that the remaining nine defendants were fully exonerated of all charges, thereby ordering their immediate release. The prosecution had laid out an extensive case against the defendants, charging them under 23,270 counts related to conspiracy and aiding and abetting the terrorist acts.

The trial was presided over by a three-judge panel consisting of Justices Navaratne Marasinghe, Ramanaadan Kannan, and Sujeewa Nisshanka, who meticulously examined the evidence and testimonies presented over a lengthy trial that spanned nearly five years.

This pivotal ruling was announced following the conclusion of the trial process on August 24, marking a significant moment in Sri Lanka's ongoing fight against terrorism and its repercussions within the community.
