​ශ්‍රී ලංකා ඉතිහාසයේ ප්‍රථම වතාවට ගොඩබිම මෙන්ම මුහුදේ ද එකලෙස ධාවනය කළ හැකි උසස් තාක්ෂණික amphibious (උභයජල) යාත්‍රාවක් නිපදවා යුරෝපයට අපනයනය කිරීමේ ඓතිහාසික සමාරම්භක උත්සවය (10) කොග්ගල නිදහස් වෙළඳ කලාප පරිශ්‍රයේදී කර්මාන්ත සහ ව්‍යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් හඳුන්නෙත්ති මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවැත්විණි. 

නව කර්මාන්ත හා අපනයන පුනරුද ප්‍රතිපත්තියට සමගාමීව Ocean Voyager International ආයතනය විසින් නිපදවූ මෙම යාත්‍රාව, මෙරට නාවික නිෂ්පාදන ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ දැවැන්ත පෙරළියක ආරම්භය සටහන් කරයි.

​මෙහිදී අදහස් දැක්වූ අමාත්‍ය සුනිල් හඳුන්නෙත්ති මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, මෙතෙක් කතාවට පමණක් සීමා වී තිබූ දේශීය නිෂ්පාදන ආර්ථිකය ප්‍රායෝගිකව ජයග්‍රහණය කරවීම රජයේ ප්‍රමුඛතම වගකීම බවයි. 

ලෝකයේ ප්‍රධානතම නාවික මාර්ග මධ්‍යයේ පිහිටි ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට කෙටි කාලීනව විශාලතම විදේශ විනිමය ප්‍රමාණයක් උපයා දිය හැකි ප්‍රමුඛතම ක්ෂේත්‍රයක් ලෙස බෝට්ටු හා නැව් නිෂ්පාදන කර්මාන්තය හඳුනාගෙන ඇති අතර, දේශීය ඉංජිනේරුවන්ගේ හා ශ්‍රමිකයින්ගේ දායකත්වයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව කලාපයේ නාවික නිෂ්පාදන මධ්‍යස්ථානය බවට පත්කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය සියලු පහසුකම් හා රජයේ පූර්ණ සහාය ලබාදෙන බව ද අමාත්‍යවරයා වැඩිදුරටත් අවධාරණය කළේය.

​මෙම අවස්ථාව සඳහා SLYG සමාගම් සමූහයේ සභාපති පියර් ප්‍රින්ජියර්ස් (Mr. Pierre Pringiers) මහතා සහ ජාතික ව්‍යවසායකත්ව සංවර්ධන අධිකාරියේ සභාපති ලකෂ්මන් ඔබේසේකර මහතා ඇතුළු සමාගම් පාලනාධිකාරිය සහ ආයෝජන මණ්ඩලයේ නිලධාරීන් පිරිසක් ද එක්ව සිටියහ.

Historic Launch of Sri Lanka's First Amphibious Vessel Export to Europe

In a groundbreaking event on October 10, Sri Lanka celebrated the historic launch of its first-ever amphibious vessel, capable of operating both on land and at sea, with an export destined for Europe. The ceremony took place at the Koggala Free Trade Zone, under the leadership of Minister of Industry and Entrepreneur Development, Sunil Handunnetti.

This vessel, crafted by Ocean Voyager International, marks the dawn of a significant transformation in the country’s maritime manufacturing sector, coinciding with the new industrial and export revival policy.

Minister Handunnetti emphasized the government's primary responsibility to transform local production, which has largely been theoretical until now, into a practical economic success.

Positioned centrally along major maritime routes, Sri Lanka has been identified as a key sector for maximizing foreign exchange earnings through boat and ship manufacturing. The Minister further stressed that with contributions from local engineers and workers, the country is well on its way to becoming a regional hub for naval production, backed by comprehensive government support and necessary facilities.

The ceremony also saw the participation of prominent figures, including Mr. Pierre Pringiers, Chairman of the SLYG Group, and Lakshman Obeysekera, Chairman of the National Enterprise Development Authority, along with officials from the company and investment boards.
