 අධිකරණයට අපහාස කිරීමේ නඩුවකට අදාළව අධිකරණය හමුවේ පෙනී නොසිටීම හේතුවෙන් පූජ්‍ය ගලගොඩඅත්තේ ඥානසාර හිමියන් අත්අඩංගුවට ගන්නා ලෙස අභියාචනාධිකරණය (01) වරෙන්තු නිකුත් කළේය.

ඒ අනුව උන්වහන්සේව වහාම අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන ලබන ඔක්තෝබර් මස 01 වනදා අධිකරණයට ඉදිරිපත් කරන ලෙස නියෝග කළ විනිසුරු මඩුල්ල, අදාළ වරෙන්තුව පොලිස්පතිවරයා මාර්ගයෙන් ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ යුතු බවට ද නියෝග කළේය.

මායාදුන්නේ කොරයා සහ ලක්මාලි කරුණානායක යන විනිසුරු ද්විත්වය හමුවේ මෙම නඩුව කැඳවූ අවස්ථාවේදී, නීතිපතිවරයා කළ ඉල්ලීමක් සලකා බැලීමෙන් අනතුරුව මෙම නියෝගය නිකුත් කෙරිණි.

හිටපු ජනාධිපති මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා විසින් ඥානසාර හිමියන්ට ලබා දී තිබූ ජනාධිපති සමාව බලරහිත කරමින් ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිකරණය ලබාදුන් තීන්දුව බලාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය නියෝග නිකුත් කරන ලෙස ඉල්ලා නීතිපතිවරයා විසින් මෙම මෝසම ගොනු කර තිබේ.

Appellate Court Issues Warrant for Buddhist Cleric's Arrest Over Contempt Charges

The Appellate Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero due to his failure to appear in court regarding a contempt of court case. This directive was announced during proceedings before Judges Maya Dhunatunga and Lakmali Karunanayake.

As per the court’s order, the cleric is to be taken into custody immediately and presented before the court on October 1. The ruling also mandates that the Commissioner of Police shall execute the warrant accordingly.

This development follows a request made by the Attorney General, who sought the enforcement of necessary orders to implement a Supreme Court ruling that annulled a presidential pardon granted to Gnanasara Thero by former President Maithripala Sirisena.

The case has raised significant legal discussions, particularly concerning the ramifications of the Supreme Court's decision on presidential pardon powers and the ongoing issues related to contempt of court.
