 ජනාධිපති අනුර කුමාර දිසානායක මහතාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් (12) පොළොන්නරුවේ පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත ගොවි රැලියට විරෝධය පළ කරමින්, පුලතිසි ගොවිජන එකමුතුවේ කැඳවුම්කරු රවීන්ද්‍ර ලක්මාල් බණ්ඩාර මහතා හිඟුරක්ගොඩ පොදු වෙළඳ සංකීර්ණයේ වහලය මත නැඟී උපවාසයක නිරත වී තිබේ.

හිඟුරක්ගොඩ නගරයේ පිහිටි පොදු වෙළඳ සංකීර්ණ ගොඩනැඟිල්ලේ වහලය මතට ජාතික ධජය ද රැගෙන නැඟුණු ඒ මහතා, ජාතික ජන බලවේග රජයේ ක්‍රියාකලාපයට එරෙහිව සටන් පාඨ ඇතුළත් බැනරයක් ද ප්‍රදර්ශනය කරමින් මෙම විරෝධතාවයේ නිරත විය.

ගොවි ජනතාව මුහුණ දී ඇති සැබෑ ගැටලුවලට විසඳුම් ලබාදීමට අපොහොසත් වී ඇති රජය, මෙවැනි රැලි පැවැත්වීම මඟින් පොළොන්නරුවේ ගොවි ජනතාව දැඩි ලෙස හෑල්ලුවට ලක් කර ඇති බව ඔහු මෙහිදී චෝදනා කළේය.

එහිදී වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් දැක්වූ රවීන්ද්‍ර ලක්මාල් බණ්ඩාර මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, වත්මන් පාලනය යටතේ පොළොන්නරුවේ ගොවීන්ට සිය අස්වැන්න සඳහා නිසි මිලක් නොලැබීම, ණය බරින් මිරිකීම සහ රන් භාණ්ඩ උකස් කිරීමට සිදුවීම ඇතුළු ගැටලු රැසක් හේතුවෙන් ඔවුන්ගේ ජන ජීවිතය දැඩි අර්බුදයකට ලක්ව ඇති බවයි.

ගොවීන් මෙලෙස පාරට වැටී දුක් විඳිද්දී ආණ්ඩුව විසින් සංවිධානය කරන මෙම රැලියට සැබෑ ගොවීන් සහභාගී නොවන බවත්, ජාතික ජන බලවේගයේ ක්‍රියාකාරීන් ගොවීන් ලෙස පෙනී සිටිමින් ජනතාව නොමඟ යැවීමට උත්සාහ කරන බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පවසා සිටියේය.

මෙම අසාධාරණයට එරෙහිව රටේ ස්වාධීන පුරවැසියකු මෙන්ම ගොවි නියෝජිතයෙකු ලෙස තමන් මෙම අඛණ්ඩ උපවාස ක්‍රියාමාර්ගයට අවතීර්ණ වූ බව ද හෙතෙම අවධාරණය කළේය.

Protest by Farmer Leader Amidst Presidential Rally in Pollonnaruwa

In a bold display of dissent, Ravindra Lakmal Bandara, the convener of the Pulathisi Farmer Collective, has initiated a hunger strike atop the roof of the public market complex in Higurakgoda. This action is a protest against the forthcoming agricultural rally set to be led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Bandara raised the national flag while standing on the roof, showcasing a banner that encapsulated the struggles faced by farmers under the National People's Power government's policies. His protest is a direct challenge to the government's inaction regarding the pressing issues impacting the agricultural community.

Bandara criticized the government for failing to address the real problems faced by farmers, asserting that such rallies exacerbate the struggles of the farming community in Pollonnaruwa. He emphasized that the administration's neglect has left local farmers grappling with severe hardships.

Elaborating on the dire circumstances, Bandara pointed out that under the current regime, farmers are not receiving fair prices for their produce, while also burdened by overwhelming debts and forced to sell their gold assets. He highlighted that these challenges have plunged their livelihoods into a deep crisis.

As farmers continue to suffer, Bandara stressed that true agricultural workers will not be participating in the government-organized rally. He accused members of the National People's Power of masquerading as farmers in an attempt to mislead the public.

Emphasizing his commitment to the cause, Bandara noted that he is undertaking this continuous hunger strike not only as a citizen of the country but also as a representative of farmers, highlighting the urgent need to oppose this injustice.
