 පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන රක්ෂිත බන්ධනාගාරගත කිරීම සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම අයුක්තිසහගත සහ නීති විරෝධී ක්‍රියාවක් බව හිටපු අමාත්‍ය උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා පවසයි.

කොළඹදී පැවැති මාධ්‍ය හමුවකදී අදහස් දක්වමින් ඒ මහතා කියා සිටියේ, කිසිදු සාක්ෂියකින් තොරව හුදෙක් එක් පුද්ගලයෙකුගේ ප්‍රකාශයක් මත පමණක් පදනම්ව මෙම අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීම සිදු කර ඇති බවයි.

මන්ත්‍රීවරයාට එරෙහිව එල්ල වී ඇති චෝදනාව වන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකන් ගුවන් සේවයට එයාර් බස් යානා මිලදී ගැනීමේ ගනුදෙනුවේදී ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් ලක්ෂ 08 ක කොමිස් මුදලක් ලබාගත් බවයි.

මෙම සිද්ධිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් කරුණු පැහැදිලි කළ ගම්මන්පිල මහතා, එයාර් බස් සමාගමෙන් ප්‍රියංකා විජේනායක යන අයට කොමිස් මුදලක් ලැබුණු බවටත්, ඇය එම මුදලින් කොටසක් ඕස්ට්‍රේලියාවේ වසන නිමල් පෙරේරා නමැත්තෙකුට ලබාදුන් බවටත් සාක්ෂි පවතින බව පිළිගත්තේය.

එහෙත්, නිමල් පෙරේරා විසින් එම මුදල නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාට ලබාදුන් බවට පවසන ප්‍රකාශය හැර වෙනත් කිසිදු සාක්ෂියක් විමර්ශකයන් සතුව නොමැති බව ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

"නිමල් පෙරේරා කියන්නේ කවුරුත් නැති වෙලාවක ගිහින් නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතාගේ මේසය උඩ ඩොලර් ලක්ෂ 8 තියලා ආවා කියලා. මේ ප්‍රකාශය ඇරුණම වෙන කිසිම සාක්ෂියක් නෑ. මේක හරියට උගන්ඩාවේ සල්ලි හැංගුවා, රොකට් යැව්වා, රත්තරන් අශ්වයෝ ගෙනාවා, ලැම්බෝගිනි ගෙනාවා වගේම තවත් එක මාලිමා පචයක් පමණයි," යැයි ද හිටපු අමාත්‍යවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

යම් පුද්ගලයෙකුගේ ප්‍රකාශයක නම සඳහන් වූ පමණින් අත්අඩංගුවට ගැනීමට හැකි නම්, මෙරට කිසිදු පුරවැසියෙකුට තවදුරටත් ආරක්ෂාවක් නොමැති බව ගම්මන්පිල මහතා පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

විශේෂයෙන්ම පොදු දේපළ පනත යටතේ නඩු පැවරීම හරහා සැකකරුවන්ට ඇප ලබාගැනීම අතිශය දුෂ්කර කර ඇති බවත්, මෙය මර්දනකාරී පාලනයක ලක්ෂණයක් බවත් ඔහු වැඩිදුරටත් පැවසීය.

මෙම අත්තනෝමතික ක්‍රියාව හරහා නාමල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පමණක් නොව, සමස්ත ජනතාවම අනාරක්ෂිත තත්ත්වයකට පත්ව ඇති බව උදය ගම්මන්පිල මහතා සිය මාධ්‍ය හමුවේදී අවධාරණය කර සිටියේය.

Former Minister Critiques Arrest of MP Namal Rajapaksa as Unlawful

Udaya Gammanpila, the former Minister, has condemned the arrest and detention of Parliament Member Namal Rajapaksa, labeling it an entirely unjust and unlawful act. Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, he emphasized that the arrest was based solely on an individual's statement without any substantial evidence to support it.

The allegations against the MP involve claims that he accepted an $800,000 commission in connection with a transaction for the purchase of aircraft for SriLankan Airlines. Gammanpila clarified that commission payments had indeed been made to individuals, including Priyanka Wijenayake from the airline. Furthermore, he noted that a portion of this money was purportedly given to someone named Nimala Perera residing in Australia.

However, he pointed out that apart from Perera's assertion that the money was handed over to Namal Rajapaksa, no other concrete evidence exists to substantiate these claims. "Nimala Perera says, in a situation where no one else is around, that he brought $800,000 and placed it on Namal Rajapaksa’s table. Once this statement was made, there’s no further evidence. This is comparable to stories about hiding money in Uganda or bringing in golden horses and Lamborghinis—just another ridiculous tale," Gammanpila remarked.

He stressed the grave implications such arbitrary arrest practices hold for citizens' safety. If apprehension can occur merely based on someone's name being mentioned in a statement, then the security of any citizen in the country is at risk, he warned.

Moreover, he denounced the difficulties surrounding granting bail to suspects through cases allocated under the Public Properties Act, suggesting that this reflects traits of a repressive governance. Gammanpila asserted that not only Namal Rajapaksa but the entire populace is finding themselves in a precarious situation due to these excessive measures.
