 දේශීය වෙළෙඳපොළ තුළ මෝටර් රථ මිල ගණන් රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 3 සිට 10 දක්වා වූ සැලකිය යුතු අගයකින් පහත වැටී ඇති බව ලංකා වාහන ආනයනකරුවන්ගේ සංගමය පවසයි.

කොළඹ පැවති ප්‍රවෘත්ති සාකච්ඡාවකට එක්වෙමින් එම සංගමයේ සභාපති ඉන්දික සම්පත් මෙරිංචිගේ මහතා සඳහන් කළේ, වසර පහක කාලයක් පුරා පැවති වාහන ආනයන සීමා කිරීම් හමුවේ නිර්මාණය වූ හිඩැස පියවීමට පසුගිය සමයේ විවිධ ක්‍රම ඔස්සේ විශාල වශයෙන් වාහන මෙරටට ගෙන්වීම සහ පසුව පැනවූ අධිභාර හේතුවෙන් වෙළෙඳපොළ තුළ වාහන අතිරික්තයක් නිර්මාණය වී ඇති බවයි.

මේ හේතුවෙන් යාරිස්, රේස්, වෙසල්, වැගන් ආර්, මිරා වැනි මෙරට අතිශය ජනප්‍රිය මෝටර් රථ සහ වෑන් රථ රැසක් ආනයනික පිරිවැයටත් වඩා අඩු මුදලකට පාඩු ලබමින් අලෙවි කිරීමට වෙළෙන්දන්ට සිදුව ඇති බවත්, එය වාහන මිලදී ගැනීමට අපේක්ෂා කරන පාරිභෝගිකයන්ට ඉතා වාසිදායක අවස්ථාවක් බවත් හෙතෙම පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

වාහන බදු තක්සේරු කිරීමේදී රජයට රුපියල් බිලියන 120ක ආදායමක් අහිමි වූ බවට පළවන වාර්තා ප්‍රතික්ෂේප කළ සභාපතිවරයා, අන්තර්ජාල වෙබ් අඩවිවල දැක්වෙන්නේ විදෙස් රටවල අලෙවි නියෝජිතයන්ගේ ලාභාංශ, රක්ෂණ සහ වගකීම් සහතික ගාස්තු ඇතුළත් සිල්ලර මිල බව පැහැදිලි කළේය.

එබැවින් රේගුව මගින් නිෂ්පාදකයාගේ මිලට සාධාරණීකරණය කරමින් සියයට 85ක පදනම මත බදු අය කිරීමෙන් රජයට කිසිදු පාඩුවක් සිදුවී නොමැති බවද ඔහු අවධාරණය කළේය.

වසර 10 සිට 20 දක්වා පැරණි ගැසට් නිවේදන තවදුරටත් ක්‍රියාත්මක වීම නිසා පාවිච්චි කරන ලද වාහන සඳහා පවා අලුත්ම වාහනවලට අය කරන අධික බදු මුදලක් ගෙවීමට සිදුව ඇති බව පෙන්වා දුන් මෙරිංචිගේ මහතා, රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 15කට මිලදී ගන්නා වසර 10ක් පැරණි ලොරි රථයක් සඳහාද රුපියල් ලක්ෂ සියයකට අධික තක්සේරුවක් මත බදු ගෙවීමට සිදුව ඇති බව පැහැදිලි කළේය.

මෙම අර්බුදකාරී තත්ත්වයට කඩිනම් විසඳුමක් ලෙස, පවතින සංකීර්ණ තක්සේරු ක්‍රමවේද වෙනුවට වාහනයේ එන්ජින් ධාරිතාව පදනම් කරගත් විනිවිදභාවයෙන් යුතු සරල ඒකක බදු ක්‍රමයක් හඳුන්වා දෙන ලෙස ලංකා වාහන ආනයනකරුවන්ගේ සංගමය රජයෙන් වැඩිදුරටත් ඉල්ලා සිටියි.

Significant Drop in Vehicle Prices Observed in Sri Lanka's Market

Recent analysis by the Association of Motor Vehicle Importers has revealed a noteworthy decline in motor vehicle prices within the local market, with reductions spanning between Rs. 300,000 to Rs. 1,000,000.

Speaking at a press briefing in Colombo, the association's president, Indika Sampath Merinchige, attributed this shift to a surplus of vehicles entering the country after recent import restrictions were lifted. Over the past five years, as these restrictions were gradually relaxed, a substantial influx of vehicles has created an oversupply in the market. This, coupled with existing economic pressures, has led to a notable decrease in vehicle prices.

This situation has resulted in popular brands like Yaris, Race, Vessel, Wagon R, and Mira being sold at prices lower than the cost of importation, providing an advantageous opportunity for consumers looking to purchase vehicles.

Addressing reports that claimed the government may have lost approximately Rs. 120 billion in revenue from vehicle taxation, Merinchige clarified that the costs displayed on various online platforms include commissions, insurance, and warranty charges from foreign dealers, not the actual prices upon which the government bases tax assessments.

He emphasized that the current taxation model, which is based on 85% of the manufacturer's pricing, does not disadvantage the government financially.

Moreover, Merinchige pointed out the ongoing unfair taxation burdens affecting even used vehicles, which are subjected to high tax assessments meant for new models. He cited an example of a ten-year-old lorry purchased for Rs. 1.5 million being taxed over Rs. 1 million due to outdated regulations.

In light of this challenging scenario, the Association has urged the government to implement an equitable and simplified tax structure based on engine capacity, replacing the current complicated assessment methods.
