ලේබල් නෑ.. ප‍්‍රමිතිය නෑ.. මේ එන්නත් රෝගීන්ට දුන්නොත් අපට වගකියන්න වෙනවා..- NMRA සභාපති

 පිළිකා රෝගීන්ට ලබාදෙන ‘ෆිල්ග්‍රැස්ටිම්’ (Filgrastim) නමැති එන්නත් මාත්‍රා 160,000ක් නිසි ප්‍රමිතියෙන් තොරවීම සහ නියමිත ලේබල් අඩංගු නොවීම හේතුවෙන් අදාළ සැපයුම්කාර සමාගම වෙතම ආපසු හරවා යැවීමට පියවර ගත් බව ජාතික ඖෂධ නියාමන අධිකාරිය (NMRA) පවසයි.

මාධ්‍ය හමුවකට එක්වෙමින් ජාතික ඖෂධ නියාමන අධිකාරියේ සභාපති, විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය ආනන්ද විජේවික්‍රම මහතා මේ බව අනාවරණය කළේය.

පිළිකා රෝගීන්ට අත්‍යවශ්‍ය ඖෂධයක් වන ‘ෆිල්ග්‍රැස්ටිම්’, රජයේ රෝහල්වලින් පරිබාහිරව පෞද්ගලික අංශයෙන් මිලදී ගැනීමේදී අධික මිලක් වැයවන ඖෂධයක් බව පෙන්වා දුන් සභාපතිවරයා, ජාතික ඖෂධ නියාමන අධිකාරියේ නියමිත ප්‍රමිතීන්ට පටහැනිව ලේබල් රහිතව සපයන ඖෂධ කිසිසේත්ම රෝගී සත්කාරය සඳහා යොමු කළ නොහැකි බව අවධාරණය කළේය. 

එවැනි ඖෂධ ලබාදීමෙන් රෝගීන්ට යම් අතුරු ආබාධයක් හෝ මරණයක් සිදුවුවහොත් ඊට සෘජුවම ඖෂධ නියාමන අධිකාරිය වගකිව යුතු බව ද හෙතෙම පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

ඉකුත් ජූලි මස 28 වැනිදා දිවයිනට ගෙන්වන ලද මෙම එන්නත් තොගයේ පිටත පෙට්ටිවල අදාළ විස්තර සටහන්ව තිබුණ ද, ඇතුළත වූ එන්නත් කුප්පි මත ඖෂධයේ නම, මාත්‍රාව, ලබාදිය යුතු ආකාරය, නිෂ්පාදිත දිනය මෙන්ම කල් ඉකුත්වීමේ දිනය ආදී අත්‍යවශ්‍ය කිසිදු තොරතුරක් සටහන්ව නොතිබූ බව අනාවරණය වී ඇත.

අදාළ සමාගම විසින් මෙම එන්නත් සඳහා මෙරටදී ලේබල් ඇලවීමට අවසර ඉල්ලා සිටිය ද නීතිමය හා ප්‍රමිතිගත ක්‍රමවේදය අනුව ඊට අවසර ලබා දිය නොහැකි බවත්, ඉන් අනතුරුව එම ඖෂධ තොගයේ ප්‍රමිතිය පරීක්ෂා කර බැලීමට අවසර ඉල්ලා සිටි බවත් සභාපතිවරයා සඳහන් කළේය.

කෙසේ වෙතත්, මෙවැනි ඖෂධවල තත්ත්ව පරීක්ෂාව අතිශය සංකීර්ණ බැවින් සාමාන්‍ය රසායනාගාරවලදී එය සිදු කළ නොහැකි බව පෙන්වා දුන් ඒ මහතා, ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් පරීක්ෂණ පැවැත්විය හැකි රසායනාගාර පිළිබඳව මේ වන විටත් ලෝක සෞඛ්‍ය සංවිධානයෙන් විමසීම් කර ඇති බව ද කියා සිටියේය.

රෝගීන්ට අවශ්‍ය මෙම ඖෂධ තොග කඩිනමින් ගුවන් මඟින් හෝ වෙනත් ඇණවුම් කඩිනම් කිරීම මඟින් මෙරටට ගෙන්වා ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය පියවර ගනිමින් සිටින බව විශේෂඥ වෛද්‍ය ආනන්ද විජේවික්‍රම මහතා වැඩිදුරටත් සඳහන් කළේය.

Filgrastim Batch Recalled Due to Labeling Issues, Says NMRA

The National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) has initiated the recall of 160,000 doses of the cancer medication Filgrastim, citing serious concerns over the absence of proper labeling and adherence to established standards. The announcement came during a recent media briefing led by Dr. Ananda Wijewickrema, the Chairman of the NMRA.

Dr. Wijewickrema emphasized the critical nature of Filgrastim, which is essential for cancer patients. He noted that purchasing this medication through private institutions incurs significant costs, underscoring the importance of regulatory compliance for drugs intended for patient care. He stressed that any medications lacking appropriate labeling should never be directed towards patient treatment.

The chairman further highlighted that any adverse effects or fatalities caused by the administration of such medications would directly implicate the NMRA in accountability matters.

This particular batch of Filgrastim was imported on July 28, and while the outer boxes contained some details, critical information such as the drug's name, dosage, administration instructions, manufacturing date, and expiry date was conspicuously missing from the inner ampoules.

Although the supplying company applied for permission to label the medication in Sri Lanka, the NMRA clarified that regulatory and standard procedures do not permit such authorization at this time. The company has since indicated a desire to submit the batch for quality assessment.

Dr. Wijewickrema pointed out that quality testing for such medications is highly complex, making it impractical to conduct in regular laboratories. He noted that consultations are ongoing with the World Health Organization regarding accredited laboratories capable of conducting these tests.

Meanwhile, the NMRA is taking steps to expedite the acquisition of the necessary supplies for patients, contemplating urgent air freight or other swift ordering methods to ensure the timely availability of this vital medication.
