Court Orders Resumption of Case Against Namal Rajapaksa Over Alleged Money Laundering

The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanga S. Bodaragama, has scheduled a hearing for February 11 of next year in a case involving alleged money laundering activities connected to a sum of Rs. 15 million improperly acquired by NR Consultancy. The case includes four defendants, notably parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

Investigating officers informed the court that the complete details of the inquiry are currently with the Attorney General, prompting a request for further time to obtain legal advice on the matter.

Taking into account the information presented, the Chief Magistrate confirmed the hearing date and instructed the police to report on the progress of the investigations during the next court session.

The individuals implicated in this case, alongside Rajapaksa, include Nithya Senani S. Samarasinghe, Sujani Bogollagama, and Sudarshan Bandara Ganegoda.
