Israeli Plans for Airstrikes on Iran's Nuclear Facilities Intensify Amid Political Concerns

Tensions in the Middle East are escalating as reports emerge of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's intentions to conduct extensive aerial strikes targeting Iran's nuclear centers and critical energy infrastructure. The British newspaper Financial Times reveals that U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed opposition to this aggressive military strategy, particularly with impending midterm elections in the United States.

According to three confidential intelligence sources cited by the Financial Times, Israel's military was reportedly on high alert over the weekend of October 10, prepared to strike significant sites within Iran’s governmental framework, including nuclear facilities and major civilian infrastructure.

This planned military operation was said to entail a significantly more potent and destructive strike than joint attacks carried out by the U.S. and Israel against Iran in February. New civilian infrastructure targets, previously overlooked, have now been incorporated into Israel’s targeting list.

However, as the midterm elections approach on November 3, Trump is concerned that initiating a new military front could adversely affect his political stability. As a result, he has vocally opposed Netanyahu's plans, and reports suggest that this has led to a temporary halt of the military operations.

While it remains unconfirmed whether the U.S. was expected to participate directly in these strikes, concerns persist about the potential for renewed hostilities in the coming weeks. The final decision regarding any further escalation lies solely with Trump, the report indicates. The Pentagon has declined to comment on these revelations.

The disclosure comes as U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reportedly made a secret visit to Israel, meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss regional threats over a two-day engagement.

Israeli television Channel 12 highlighted that Netanyahu has continuously urged Trump to initiate attacks against Iran before the Israeli national elections slated for October 27 and the American midterms on November 3.

In a statement on October 9, Trump emphasized to the public that there would be no strikes against Iran prior to the elections. Israeli military chief Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi cautioned U.S. defense officials that any such attacks could provoke a massive retaliation from Tehran, potentially jeopardizing even the upcoming Israeli elections.
