Price of Flour Set to Rise Amid Global Market Pressures
In a significant move reflecting global market dynamics, the price of flour in Sri Lanka will increase by Rs. 13 per kilogram effective from midnight. This adjustment comes as flour importers respond to rising costs in international markets.
This latest price revision is expected to affect both wholesale and retail markets throughout the country, leading to higher flour prices across various trade channels.
Previously, leading flour companies and importers in Sri Lanka had made several price adjustments in response to fluctuations in the global flour market, alongside escalating transportation and operational costs.
The impending rise in flour prices poses a direct threat to prices of bakery products, including bread, as well as short-eat items such as kottu and roti, raising concerns among consumers about the upcoming cost increases.
In light of these developments, the All Ceylon Bakery Owners' Association and other relevant stakeholders are expected to discuss future measures and decide on adjustments to bakery product prices in the near future.
